Sadly, I am still holding on to some of the clothing that is too big for me. I know that I don't need it anymore, I know that I'm strong enough to work out maintenance and not gain significant amounts of weight where I would need to get them back out but there is a part of me that is afraid to let them go...

It's stupid, and I will eventually get rid of them... when I'm ready.

Too funny, I'm moving and purchased a big box for clothes.  I started to pack the box for clothes to keep and had nothing to put in it.  Yet, I didn't bag the clothes I know I can't fit.  I don't think I'm holding on to anything, its just that I won't have ANY more clothes.

I only kept my biggest pair of jeans & 1 shirt. Everything else has been donated. Granted I work at home & do casual everyday. So I do not have to buy" work" clothes. I only have 2 pr of shorts and 1 pr of capris and a few tees to wear. I will be able to buy off the sale rack when I get to goal.
My hubby has way more clothes than I do,( for now) I say donate them, sell them, make room for new sizes.

Don't just donate them to Goodwill. Donate them to a cause like Dress For Success (especially if you have work clothes). Then you know your clothes will be used to give a woman in need the opportunity to dress well for a job interview or for an actualy job.

They mostly need business attire, but coats as well. Get everything dry cleaned and pressed (one last time!) and pass it on. They particularly need larger sizes!

Another boat burner here.  Once it is too big it goes.  I have one pair of big jeans to try on, the rest is out of here.  My wardrobe right now is maybe 30 pieces...cheap tees, shorts, jeans; pluse socks, underwear, and a couple of bras.

I don't have a winter coat/jacket.  I thought about trying to buy one on clearance a few months ago, but then realized that I don't know what size I will need.

Now that I'm moving into size 12 I might be a bit more clingy.  I guess I can see me maybe slipping back up to a 12...not a 22/24.

Get RID of those things.  As soon as you are out of a size - get it out of the house.

Its an enabling behavior you don't need.

Make it ceremonial.  Every week when I go to group, I take some clothes in that I have undergrown.  They have a closet for donated clothes for patients to choose from.  I am keeping them stocked with mens stuff.

I have another batch to take down on Monday now that I have dropped from a 36 waist to a 34.  Looking forward to it!

I love the idea of ceremony.  In modern life we often lack the ceremonies that marked many important life transitions in times of old. Ceremony may cement the transition into the brain in ways that normal experience cannot.

I just made my FOURTH major closet/dresser purge this week, and took another half dozen trash bags full of too-big clothes to the Salvation Army.  It's a very empowering and fulfilling feeling.  I've shed almost 160 pounds from my body, and probably close to that in bags of clothing! I am confident that I will never be anywhere near the size I used to be.  Free yourself!

But I did keep one pair of my largest dress pants, a top and some jeans, so I will always remember where I came from.

I got rid of my stuff ASAP and looked at it as if I gained it back and had to wear bigger clothes again, that's what I get and I'd just have to buy all the clothes over again. I don't ever see myself gaining back the 100 pounds I lost. I could see myself fluctuating a size or two once I get a lot lower but going back to 380 pounds after I lose 200 pounds... if I let myself do that, buying new clothes will be the least of my worries.

It's pretty scary to gert rid of those bigger clothes at first. After I got rid of my 1st batch, it felt freeing.
Do it gurl, you can do it!!!
