Hi ya'll...

So as expected,  I am stalled at three weeks.  I have noticed that for the past week, I have had intense thirst and can't seem to satisfy it.  I've been trying hard to drink more water and eat SF popiscles, but neither are helping.  What did I do?  I saw some Welch's Grape Juice (regular) in the fridge and had about 4 oz.  It did not hurt my sleeve, so I've been sipping it more and it seems to be satisfying me.  Now, I crave it and it is full of sugar!  I am afraid now that by having sugar, I'll begin a downward spiral. Anyone else experience this?

Thanks

I would STOP drinking the grape juice its high in sugar and cal. Good rule of thumb is to not drink your calories unless it's your protein drinks. Switch to crystal lite comes in lots of flavors. Good luck keep sipping all day long!

yep, happens to many. you just have to stop it. As long as you are giving your body ready fuel in the form of pure sugar, your body will not burn your stored fat. You are craving the *sugar* not the liquid of the juice.

if it was the *LIQUID* you were craving then any SF liquid would do the trick. You might need to consider if you are giving yoursefl an *excuse* to continue.

you are on a very slippery slope. the more sugar you drink, the more you will want as you have found out. It is a dangerous spiral. I would stop ASAP as in yesterday!

Yep - totally been there.

I broke down and bought Motts for Tots apple juice, which has 40% less sugar than regular apple juice. 2 oz of that every few days did the trick.

I don't drink a lot of sweet stuff - I'm a big fan of water and I find sugar free drinks far too sweet, but I love me some Arnold Palmer so I got Trader Joe's (my favorite) and made small popsicles.  I have one every few days and it seems to have quieted the sugar craving. Or I'm just past it.

I have incorporated fruit back into my diet and that is a win for me.

For extreme thirst I like G2 or Zero Poweraide.

Welches also makes a light grape juice with some sort of artificial sweetener.  I know it's 45 calories per 8oz.  I have about 4 oz once a week.

Hi RockinMama,

I have stalled 3 times in the past 4 months. I feel your pain. It's natural though and I find i lose inches when I stall.

Personally, I would find something else to drink that is sugar-free. I detest sweet things, so my drink of choice is Ice-tea with lemon unsweetened. I make a gallon everyday from tea bags and drink it. It completely quenches my thirst. I did decaf until I was 3 months post-op.

Sugar is so addictive. You can get sugar free grape kool-aid and drink that if you are enjoying the grape taste. Truvia is sugar free and tastes great. I limit sugar substitutes as weel but I do have them occasionally.

Good luck on your journey.

Best,

Sharon

Try mixing s/f grape with s/f lemonade - that is my newest flavor combination and it is so thirst quenching.
