Please help me, having protein problems!!

I am stressing out a bit.  I am just over a week out from surgery, I'm still on fulls (well technically the nurse practiioner said I could do purees but I personally think it's too soon) I have a terrible aversion to protein powders right now. It's awful. I just ordered more samples hoping to find something I can get down without dry heaving. I bought some lean shakes and pure protein RTDs from GNC, and it takes me hours to drink just one because they gross me out.  The only one that was remotely palatable to me was the core power but it's WAY too carby.  I got one and a half Lean shakes in yesterday and that's all I could manage. My plan calls for me to put protein powder and non fat milk powder in everything that's not a protein shake, but I can taste it and I gag. I don't know how to get over this! Do you have any suggestions?

Try the Oh Yeah protein shakes, they are easier on the stomach. Lactose free.

I hear taste buds may change after surgery, but the ones I have tried preop are Syntrax and Unjury. I like the Syntrax best. My favorite is Cappucino Latte, then Banana Cream and then Mint Cookie. I mix with unsweetened Almond Milk, no****er.

Premiere RTD shakes are 30gms protein in 160 calories. They're thin enough that they don't make you gag. I love them. Sam's club carries some flavors, only chocolate here in my area, but I ordered the vanilla and strawberry online. I also use Unjury protein powders and mix the vanilla with my coffee every morning. The Unjury unflavored was great in soups and broths. Unjury is 20gms of protein and 80 calories for the unflavored and 100 calories for the flavored. I too went through about a 5-10 day period after surgery where I couldn't stand the taste or smell of protein mixes. The premiere doesn't have a smell but the Unjury has a slight smell while mixing but it goes away quickly once it's dissolved in liquid. It's different for everyone. Sometimes you just have to pinch your nose and drink - lol.

Maybe try the clear ready to drink Isopure? I thinks it available at GNC (and online) I was going to try it myself. Also have you tried the unjury chicken soup?

I feel bad for you!! I hope you find something soon!

How are you with greek yogurt and/or cottage cheese?  If you put either in a blender and add stuff, say SF pudding or syrup and use milk/water to thin it out.  You have a 20+g protein shake but no powder.

Unjury has an unflavored protein you can add to anything.  I have added protien drink to hot cocoa, just make the cocoa, (no sugar added or protein hot cocoa )and then I mixed a Matrix protein shake, combined and drank. It was really good.

I put the fruity Syntrax ones in 32 ounce bottle of water with some Mio drops. That much water thins it out a LOT and the flavor drops help mask what little tste is left. it will make the water a bit cloudy so don't let that freak you.
