Yesterday was my first day back at work after two weeks of recovery followed by a rather stressful post Hurricane Sandy week of no power, no heat etc.... Need I say more!

I rushed off to work with a protein shake for breakfast, no time for an in between snack, meeting from 10am to 2 pm , sipped on water right through which was good. Rushed down half a cup of medifast chicken soup after the meeting at 2pm! At 4 pm felt hunger pans, so guzzled down some cottage cheese and soft scrambled egg that I had originally packed for lunch. Wow!! Ran straight to the bathroom heaving and spitting..... Is that dumping?? Nasty experience, never to be repeated!!! Note to self! I have to plan and organize my meals and eat SLOWLY!!!

These are the first days of the rest of my life. I feel like i have gone through a rebirth, with a second chance for a new life to live and a new me to treasure! I will remain on the losers bench for the rest of my  healthier life!

GUZZLED is your problem.... You have got to take your time specially since your so early out.  YES PLAN is the key.  IM having a little trouble planning myself.  make sure you log everything!!  No Dumping is the other end!! You the  spitting is b/c your ate to fast Ive done the same thing a few times Live and Learn...  Actually it happened the other night b/c I ate something I know I wasn't suppose to be eating and then on top of that had it way, way to fast! Good Luck you can do it! kiss

PS I hope you get everything back in order, glad your safe from Sandy!!

When you're up to your ass in alligators, it's difficult to remind yourself that your initial objective was to drain the swamp!

If it feels good, do it!  And if it smells good, eat it!

No, not dumping. Just ate too much, too fast. Tummy didn't like it!  You simply can't mindlessly eat or drink right now. ..or ever.

It's weird I haven't had surgery yet.  But I was actually thinking during Sandy it would have been really hard to be a new post op.  I was so stressed during it cause we live in a mobile home so we had to evacuate.

I think it's tricky at for those of us that use food as a stress source.  I'm so sorry you had to go through Sandy as a new post op.  That couldn't have been easy.

I think I'm going to have a hard time with that planning thing too and not eating to fast cause I'm in a hurry.  I hope you feel better now.  Take care.

Oh dear....no that does not sound like dumping, maybe a case of the foamies but you didn't describe that either and by the sounds of things, people who des ribe the foamies really describe it!!! Just ate or drank too fast. And even if it is a piece of cheese or a slice of deli meat, you have to put something in the fuel tank when you sit through a four hour meeting...pack snacks rich in protein the night before. I usually pack three items. Cheese, a slice of smoked deli turkey breast and lunch, again a protein up to 3 oz and a couple of bite size pieces of some vegetable. I usually end up bringing stuff back. Makes the dogs greet me with that much more enthusiasm! You can bring cottage cheese, a greek yogurt, a soup, a piece of chicken...some egg salad. And yes, eat slowly and chew dilligently. I found my perfect pace which actually coincides with eating lunch with the unsleeved peeps in my life. We finish at the same time! Of course they eat five times as much and as fast...but it works.

What you experience was what I was doing for 1 month. I had the hardest time trying to eat and drink slowly that I was heaving and spitting for 15 mins after each meal. I am much better now, but everything has to be done slowly. Good Luck!
