Support Group
When I started this whole process..... I never intended to go to any "support group" meetings. Support groups are for wiener losers.......
Well..... my first support group was about 5-6 months post-op...... and I been a wiener loser ever since...... I often go to several a month as my surgeon has them just about every week at different locations.
Every time I think I don't need to go to group as often......
I'm reminded how special this San Jose group is and how there may not be another one like it anywhere......So, I try and make everyone....
Solid is the only word I can think of.......
Every stage is represented..... from inquires to 5+ years out....a top surgeon and his nutritionist........
Some of the frequent attendees..... Elina, Jimbo, Lee, PBJ, Kairik, MacMadame, ThinLizzy, SuperRN, Sublimate, CeCe, JennChap, ruggie (I know I'm missing a few or don't know their OH handle) just to name a few of the Superstars of our "Sport".......That's a stacked line-up !
Last night was some great questions by a pre-op and her parents, great discussion among post-ops about scenarios and situations.
Seeing the whole process again IRL though others really keeps it very real......
We got to watch JulieB408 come to 6 months of pre-op to have surgery about the first of the year...... every month she was shrinking......shows up last night at goal......Sweet.....!!!
Support groups are what you make them...... I urge you to try and attend one in your area or help build one.......

I'm on the board of advisors for one of ours here that's held at a hospital, open to all, no matter surgeon, place of surgery or anything else. It's monthly, but invaluable. I think, for most of us, we need that monthly reminder and accountability.
For me, it helps to celebrate the successes, help those that have lost their way (and remind me not to) and it's a community. Plus I can give back a little by helping some of the scared newbies. The bariatric program there was just really getting a foothold when I had my surgey, I was glad when we started the meetings a few months after my surgery and a proud to serve to help make them great.

Oh, man... 2.9 pounds to go and I'm due for a flat stair-step too. *laughing* You KNOW it's going to pause. It's okay. I think I'll make it by Christmas, hopefully before, but well. It is what it is.
And then I have to decide if I want to revise my goal or not. But I'm leaving that damn thing say "goal weight reached" for at least a freaking day. Just ONE freaking day. *laughing*
XOXO, Friso. Thanks for "playing" with me. Seriously, it helps.
But yes. Support groups. MUST do. Every month that I'm not out of town on business, which is very rare. Go to them, please. Just go.

congrats on getting so close to goal!! i'm kind of stuck at 150 lbs lost. i'm really frustrated, as over the last 3 days i've GAINED 3 lbs. i ate less than 850 calories yesterday and drank 80 oz water. please tell me this is "normal". it's making me really scared. i'm not eating THAT poorly, but gaining.
Yup. I didn't record my gains, but I gained for sure! It will come back off and take it's friends with it. I always lose quickly, then gain a pound or two and then lose quickly, etc etc. Just stay with it.
Also, if you're a girl, your cycle can mess with it. If the scale is bugging you, don't get on it. I'm a data girl so it's always just "interesting" to me.

I keep seeing your ticker get closer and closer to 200. So excited for you and all your blessings. You are so going to make that goal before Christmas!

“Not many of us are living at our best. We linger in the lowlands because we are afraid to climb the mountains. The steepness and ruggedness dismay us, and so we stay in the misty valleys and do not learn the mystery of the hills. We do not know what we lose in our self indulgence. What glory awaits us if only we had the courage for the mountain climb. What blessing we should find if only we would move to the uplands of God.? JRM
Thanks! I'm overdue for my "pause" so I'm just waiting for it. I'm also heading out for 2 days with girlfriends here in a few minutes so I know I won't lose then. It's all been part of my plan this week so, I'm going to have fun - measured fun :)
