So how many of you slept in a recliner after surgery and for how long?

I did not need to at all.  I wouldn't recommend sleeping on your stomach (ouch) but the only thing that was a little sore was where my drain was.  I just slept on my back or on my right side with a pillow behind my back for support.

I slept in a recliner for a week.  It was easier for me to get up and down out of.

I had a hernia repair at the same time, but I am still not back in bed yet and my surgery was Tuesday.  I find the couch the comfiest spot to lay.  I can't sleep on either side without some discomfort and I can not stand to sleep on my back.  I was in the recliner until yesterday (I tried the bed Fri Night.... it was a no go) and yesterday I was sick of not being able to stretch out so I tried the couch for a nap and it was like magical sleep fairies came out... The best sleep I have had post-op.  I slept there last night and took another nap today :)

Not me. Sleeping sitting up is my idea of hell. Im a side/stomach sleeper.

I just slept on my right side with pillows tucked under my tummy so it wasnt pulling down and was all good from night 2. By about 10 days, I could sleep on my left side as well using the pillows for stability and from about 3-4 weeks, I was pretty much back to sleeping normally.

Ditto that... from the beginning I slept on my side.  Lucky!

I never have sleeped in a recliner but i do sleep upright in bed.  Is been almost a week now and I noticed to day it was easer to get out bed to day.  Still have some soreness on my right side but its getting a lot easer to move around.  The best thing you can do is to keep walking and moving around.  Hope you are doing well.  best of luck

My recliner was my best friend after surgery.
