Chocolate

I would like some dark chocolate, but I'm not going over my normal carb intake.  Any ideas outside of sugar free chocolate pudding?  I'm very hormonal and everything tastes gross today.

Honestly, and I may get flamed for saying this, but one piece of chocolate won't undo you.  I treat myself to piece of dark chocolate every now and then.  I know I'm still early out and this might be considered "bad" behavior but I know that if I deny myself of anything for too long I will end up stuffing myself with other crap that I shouldn't.  Only other option for "sweet" I would say is maybe some froyo?

So here's the deal, can you have one piece?  Are you sure you will not reach for the rest of it very soon?  If you believe that you can eat just one piece, than go ahead and get one piece of dark chocolate, at least 70% coco and enjoy it.  If you end up getting triggered to have more, than you know you can't do this again.  I would strongly suggest only buying a very small amount.

I'd only buy ONE.

Or buy what you have to and take one out and hand the rest to a stranger at the store and say, "Enjoy!"

If it works, it's enough, you won't miss the rest.  If you mess the rest, it was a mistake and you should be glad you don't the rest available.

Not sure if it is cold where you are or if you like hot chocolate, but you could make some hot chocolate with your choice of lowfat, skim, or almond milk and some unsweetened cocoa powder and splenda or stevia. I buy protein hot chocolate from mybariatricpantry.com called Pantry Selections brand and there are tons of flavors. They are very good tasting to me and have 15 gms protein. I drink those occasionally for my hot chocolate fix.

Here is my take on it...... and I might get flamed..... but than ..... I don't care !!!!!

I say chocolate is a maintenance item.... like a lot of other things.....

I say stay committed and focus on the task at hand...... lose the weight first......

Give into chocolate today......what's it gonna be tomorrow??? Peanut butter??? Popcorn???

I would say one of the most common comments I hear from people who don't make goal is that if they had tried harder in the beginning and continued the compliance ..... they would be at goal.......

Lose the weight first..... develop good habits...... find your tolerances in maintenance.....

I will agree, and I have to admit it was in maintenance that chocolate kicked my ass! I'm very glad I never strayed there during weight loss. It was a ***** to get back on track in maintenance. Would not have been worth it during WL....

Be warned! A piece of chocolate can lead to an episode of "off eating". I have tried to go down the chocolate path. Milk chocolate and mild dark chocolate trigger me. Sadly, I am not a person who can have just one when it comes to chocolate. It is best for me to just stay away from mainstream chocolates.

HOWEVER, I have tried 86% Coacoa chocolate. It is bitter, but rich and it does do the trick without triggering me. I tried the 70% that I found at Trader Joe's and it called to me a bit too loudly so I had to get rid of it.

The best thing I have found for me to soothe the chocolate craving is the sugar free Jello pudding Dark Chocolate snack cup. I keep them in the house now for those days when a little something chocolate-y and sweet is needed. Is it the best? No, but a very good substitute, IMO.

Whoa, I didn't expect the cavalry to ride in. :)  I definitely appreciate everyone's perspective. I'm not terribly concerned about having a piece of dark chocolate being a trigger.  Chocolate isn't generally really my thing. I was more looking for a creative way to get a decent dark chocolate taste, not eat around my plan and go crazy.  And crisis averted, I had three ounces of Greek yogurt and now I'm full and don't want anything.  You all crack me up!  I know if I'm ever straying, I can come here for a good, old-fashioned butt whoopin'

Yay !!!! You did the perfect thing... !!!!

The cavalry comes running in when the title says "Chocolate"

These threads can lead to some down right justifications for going off plan......
