Don't fill I'm strong enough
This part is hands down the suckiest, most difficult part of all!! Just think like this. You lost weight, maybe not as much as you wanted, but the scale is going down, and at this point, it won't stop. It's just going to go down and down and down until you reach your goal weight as long as you stick to plan. This is the beginning of you becoming who you always wanted to be! I know it's SO hard. I cried a lot on my liquid diet, and went to bed early because I just didn't want to see or smell food at all. Find things to distract yourself, go shopping, get a pedicure, read a book, go to the movies, anything to get your mind off of not eating. You are over half way there and you will make it. Just trust yourself and stick with it. You got this!!!
Is quitting really even an option? Push your thoughts into the future and try to visualize what quitting looks like, say, 6 months from now.
Sure, we ALL have felt the way your feel - frustrated, scared, freaking out. It's not something we easily forget. The liquid diet sucks. Lots of folks don't lose much on that diet for reasons - well, who knows why.
Here's the thing: get your head around how you feel about not losing much RIGHT NOW, because Post-op you are going to have stalls, and times of slow loss, and PMS gain, gain due to not getting enough fluids, and nothing happening with the scale but my clothes fit better.
If your back-up plan is to quit, or even WANT to quit every time this journey slaps you in the face, you are setting yourself up for failure.
Good luck.
First the pre-op diet is to shrink your liver, not necessarily to lose weight, although that is a nice side effect so stop watching the scale, it will do more harm than good. The other thing the pre-op diet does is load your body up with protein which makes your healing much faster and more efficient since your body needs protein to heal wounds and muscles.
Second, the hunger is in your head, find something to occupy yourself, go for a walk, start a project you have been putting off, etc. Keep your eye on the prize.
This is your first step in a glorious and wondrous journey stay the course.
I will agree, this is absolutely the hardest part. You can do it. Keep drinking - all the time. It does suck - no doubt, but you can do it. I didn't lose a whole lot during my pre-op - like 8 lbs total, I think. I understand your frustration. You will be losing quickly soon enough.
Hang in there! It is worth it, I promise!
