I love the taste of avacado, but it makes me feel sick after i eat it. Something to do with the type and amount of fats in it. Same thing i feel with nuts or foods containing canola oil. it's a shame, because nutritionally it's quite good. maybe things will change after sleeve.
I love Guacamole but I have been advised not to eat this until maintenance. There are lots of good foods out there that are fine in maintenance but that you should stay away from during WL. Guacamole does not fill me up because it is not dense protein so I cannot afford to eat it right now. Some need to be VERY cautious of food like this.
I am with you, I love avocados, and they fit into my maintenance program without a problem, but I could not find room for them during my weight loss phase. They are healthy for us but they have way more calories and fat than fits into my weigtht loss program. Other foods that I love and are great for us in maintenance but not weight loss are nuts and nut butters. I look at avocados in the same light. When I reached goal, they were on of the first things I added back into my diet.
Love them and eat avocados regularly now.
BUT...... not a weight loss food on my program. Too calorie dense. Same with nuts and things like peanut butter, almond butter, etc.... These things were allowed to be added in once goal weight was reached. That's what I stuck with.
Yes, they are great sources of healthy fats, but for a lot of folks those extra, healthy fat calories can take away from much needed protein calories. 2 TBS of mashed avocado are 50 calories. That's an awful lot when you're sticking to a 600-800 calorie a day food plan. I believe we can live without them for a while during weight loss and then add them back in once the extra calories are needed. Just my opinion.
