I am craving sweets right now, specifically some sort of cake. Don't worry everyone, I am not going to have some but I sure would like something. Anyway water it is.

Water is amazing.

If you're feeling ambitious and have the calorie deficit, eggface has some protein powder microwave cake recipes, that you make in a mug.

that's not a half bad idea. Why didn't I think about that before the atkins bar.

LOL!  I still have some of my old Medifast products, including their brownies (all of their meals are nutritionally equivalent, so it's the same stats as having a Medifast shake).  It's in the pantry -- so when the day comes that I think I must have a brownie, I have a fallback.

And the best part -- they are "good enough" -- but not really good enough that you really want one!  And, in my brownie fantasy, I've wondered if I could make a little icing for it with chocolate protein powder!

Pathetic, huh?  But if it keeps me within my carb, calorie and protein ranges -- I'd do that before having a real one!

I think there is a nutrisystem brownie around here somewhere. I am sure those would survive WWIII and they taste like it. But its good to know that your fall back is near by. I ended up eating an Atkins chocolate coconut bar that didn't quite cut it but killed my remaining calories for the day. At least it was sweet.

I still want the magic twinkie only now it has to be zero calories and zero carbs and 30 grams of protein with a super thermogenic fat burner that actually works. We spend billions trying to cure cancer, how about a little on the magic twinkie?

My "sweet treats" are homemade pumpkin custard topped with a spoonful of Splenda-sweetened Greek yogurt (it's actually a healthy Fred-sized meal), or 1-2 sugarless hard candies from the bowl on the coffee table. (5 calories each and they make it easy/possible to walk away from much worse choices)

Another option that I enjoy when sweet sounds good is a flax MIM, sliced and spread with sugarfree jam. (another meal, but hey - it satisfies my interest in "something sweet")

I suppose cottage cheese with cinnamon and Splenda wouldn't cut it either, huh? Cut up apple, nuked, Splenda and cinnamon added, then topped with cottage cheese or Greek yogurt?

I tried. I really love sweets, so have found ways to have them that I can fit into my day.

I've tried the "cakes" made with protein powders and really liked the taste, but they made Fred very unhappy...

So true! I've found that my tastes have changed as I've become used to eating simple real food and the occasional small bite of something I used to think of as a treat isn't nearly as good as expected.

Pizza is the perfect example. While I can (and do) really enjoy the toppings from a slice or 2, the 1 time I budgeted for an actual slice I ate 2-3 small bites and realised that by the time I'd chewed it enough to swallow safely it had no flavour at all. Now it's just the toppings or something totally different.

Ice cream is another. While I will cheerfully have a small bite of my husband's cone from Marble Slab, I can't be bothered about pretty much any other kind. SO not worth the cost to my calorie budget. I can make myself a whole meal with interesting tastes and textures for the calorie hit of even a small serving of regular ice cream.
