Before my surgery, I read over 600 pages of this forum. So I had seen all of those questions asked and answered many times so wasn't surprised when some of them happened to me and I knew what to do, or not do, or not panic about.

I do wish people would read a little something something before asking the same questions that quite literally come up daily. Just read back 10 pages and you will have covered all of the most common ones!

I deleted my comments. God forbid I offend these strangers. Lmao... I'm 6 weeks post-op today Suz & some of the questions people ask are just plain silly. In high school teachers always said "there are no stupid questions." Well on this website there are far too many stupid questions.
Like you said, if people would just read back 10-20 pages than they would have all of their questions answered. It's that damn simple.
Don't even get me started on "Vets", the only Vets I'd ever listen to are the ones that fight for our country. Lol

As a former high school teacher about to re-enter the ranks, there ARE stupid questions--the ones that JUST GOT ANSWERED.

My typical response was, "Can anyone answer this question?"  Usually one of the students will do it for you. :)

Half the time my posts are just me figuring things out or venting--not really questions at all.  If there IS a question, Frisco reminds me to ask the medical professionals I PAID to answer my questions.  For some reason, I keep forgetting that I did that and need him to kick my ass.

Best advice I got on this forum was from Rob, on my FIRST post...go read the 800 pages of posts, then if you have questions, come back and ask...they should make it mandatory to read several pages of postings AND learn how to use the SEARCH function before you can post your first post...just sayin (from a non-vet)

She's a "actress" and Groundhog's Day was actually a pretty cool movie even though she was in it. Probably because it had Bill Murray in it and was directed by Harold Ramis.

It's not really the repetitiveness that gets me. I figure there are a ton of people 3 months out who are dying to answer the questions of the people who are 2 weeks out and even a ton who are 6 months out who are dying to answer the questions of the ones that are 3 months out and so on until you get to about 1 year out anyway. So I don't even open those threads any more.

What gets me are people who don't do basic research that you really should do *before* you have surgery and the ones who engage in magic thinking. Oh and people who post here because they want other people to tell them what to do.

For example: people with complicated medical conditions who don't research how getting WLS will impact those conditions. I see this more with bypassers who wait until 1-4 months post-op to figure out what they can now take for their condition because they can no longer take NSAIDs. Really? You decided to get a bypass when you can't live without NSAIDs without researching if there were alternative treatments for your condition or looking into alternative WLS types? I'm speachless.

Then for the magic thinking we have people who try to convince themselves that they'll lose more weight if they eat more food, that exercising makes them gain fat, that you can stretch your sleeve by looking at it funny, that's "just a stall and it's 'inevitable' but will somehow magically stop when they are eating over 1500 calories a day and not exercising, and other stuff that just makes me scratch my head.

And don't get me started on posts that start with "Are we allowed to eat ______" I don't know. Are you 12 and am I  your mother? No? Then read the label and decide if you want to eat it yourself. Like the grown up you are.

Okay, on some level I know most of those are really saying "help me evaluate this food" but I swear at least some of them are positive there is a secret list of foods that all VSGers are allowed/not allowed to eat and somehow no one gave it to them through some sort of oversight. (It's because you don't know the secret handshake. Show us the secret handshake and we'll show you The List. )
