Hey MOM, have you tried any magnesium oxide? You can get them in capsules in the drugstore/vitamin shops.. Take 2 400mg caps at night before bed, and another one or two the next am.. then one or two a night till things regulate. They have never failed to help me. I take one a night anyway as Mg is something even normies are generally low on..

EDITED:

I got some magnesium citrate it comes in a little 'pop' looking bottle, same area as the other stuff you mentioned.  I like the lemon flavor reminds me of soda and it IS a little fizzy so maybe let it sit out before you drink it.  OMG that **** had me ****ting.  I was told to take it before surgery to clean me out and had forgotten ALL about it, but I was constipated a couple months ago and my boyfriend reminded me.  It was a God send.

My surgeons office had me do the magnesium citrate last week.  Worked.  thank God.  I liked the lemon too and I happen to like that really tart lemon so it wen down pretty good for me.

I was just telling Kairk last night at the restaurant before our support group, that my current success is really all build on the analysis of my past failures.  I could never have made it here without first learning from my oopes.  Posting about them has always helped me see things in a clearer light and the advice from some of my favorite people has never been seen as anything but supportive.  I know that you guys have my back and want for me to continue to succeed and I know you know that this is what I most want for you too.

And you are very thorough with your failures as well. You not only put it out there what happened, but how you plan to deal with it in the future. So not only do you learn from your failures but you also explain them very well. You have many many many very helpful posts. You are our Queen! (as I bow)

I really believe that failure is just another tool to get you to success.  If you can use failure than it loses all the emotional power it might have over you and only provides new information and deeper motivation to get it right next time.  It is, as always, all in our perspective.

I told Christina that I thought you would succeed because you are just to stubborn to do anything else.  :)  I told her that your experience is important and while you might not be taking the easiest route to your destination, you are still certain to get there and maybe you will have learned a great deal more along the way.  I love having male energy on this board, a little testosterone always adds an interesting perspective on things.  I am glad you are here, sometimes I roll my eyes at your posts, sometimes I smile, but I always enjoy the read. Hugs.

Thank you Keith for your posting. I had my sleeve on 1/3/13 and have not lost much of anything for almost 2 months. I tried upping the water as you suggested but was so full of water my weight soared 5 lbs ups. i knew I had too much water weight on me when my dog jumped on my lap and his paw print stayed on my leg for hours(he is a small yorkie). Took a water pill as I have always had problems retaining fluid and lost 5 lbs in one day. So I try to balance my water and don't go too extreme. I have a very strick journal of my food with targets of 600-800 calories, 40 and under carbs and minimum of 60 gm protein. I cannot move down any and weight bounces back n forth. I had to stop coming on here because all I saw was the postings of "positive" postings as you mentioned. Everyone needs positive feedback. I understand and have learned things from postings of you and the others who post regularly on here. I have lost 53lbs  in my journey so far but majority was first 2 months then a wall. My surgeon says I am doing fine, focus on protein, water and he personally calculated my goal weight based on my body type, height  (5'10" amazon..lol)etc. He gave a much higher number for my goal weight because I dont have alot of fat on my body although I weigh 235 and guess just have to keep it all in perspective. It is so hard not to compare yourself to others. I understand we are all individuals, but anyone choosing this surgery is a decision that should let everyone know how serious you are about getting healthy. Upside. No more insulin, needles and diabetic medication. I truly appreciate all of your posts and this one just made me want to express how I felt about it. Keep up the good work. I tell my sister all the time about everyone on here and the posts. she had vsg in december of 2012.  Thanks for listening

Thank you. I think everyone and anyone who has VSG should be on here, it is very helpful.

As for your water, water consumption does not cause water retention. In fact drinking enough water should have the same effect as taking a water pill. If you are getting 80 to 100 oz of water per day and still retaining water you should get your BP checked, sometimes water retention and high blood pressure go hand in hand. Are you eating to much salt? Are you getting enough potassium, these are also things that can cause water retention. Also for women who are having a rough time losing weight, hormonal imbalance can be a cause, so you might want to have hormone levels checked. The water retention is something that you really should have looked at because there are some bad things that can cause that.

But you are right, this has to be about getting healthy, not losing weight, losing weight should be a byproduct of the process.

The awesome thing about you, Keith, is that you don't take it personally. Heck, you cannot take stuff on a message board personally. The good thing about hearing of other's failures is that it makes us (well, me) feel more human and normal. We ALL screw up - with a few exceptions, I'm sure - and we all have food issues (again, a few exceptions LOL).

But I agree, I would like to see more people posting about their screw ups.

My screw up today is that it's 4:40 and I've only managed to eat a 4oz cottage cheese and 10 cups of water. I'm not hungry and just can't force myself to do the protein part today. Just feel blech about the whole food thing. LOL. Some days I feel like a freakish anorexic or something (thankfully it just lasts a day or two otherwise I'd be more worried).

And who the hell ever thought I'd be worried about NOT eating. LOL!
