Hi Everyone,

This is my first post. I have been reading all the topics in the forum since 3 months.

I was sleeved 10/14, exactly 2 weeks from now. I was on liquids first week, pureed second week & and real soft foods from tomorrow!!! YAY! I was at 240 lbs I weighed myself last, my doctor recommended I weigh only once a week, and Thursday is my next weigh in ( Nervous).

I need to reach my goal which is 135 lbs on 10/14/2014 which would be my 1 yr surgiversary!

I have read on these forums, a lot of folks say they could not get to goal weight in 12 months. That freaks me out.

Please help me with tips/ tricks/rules & other stuff that would help me reach my goal by 10/14/2014.

My 5 rules to achieve this are:

1. 80 - 90 gm protein per day

2. 40 gm or less carbs per day

3. 20 gm or less fat per day

4. Atleast 70 oz water per day

5. Atleast 30 mins exercise 4 times a week!

A hearty Thank you, for all those who would be kind enough to reply to my post.

What about the main thing, the calories?  My program would recommend (strongly) that you stay as low as possible while still meeting your protein goals.  Don't go over 600-800 calories, less is better, but get the protein in.

if you follow your rules you won't ever exceed 700 calories a day:

90g protein at 4 cal/gram = 360 calories
40g carbs at 4 cal/gram = 160 calories
20g fat at 9 cal/gram = 180 calories

Don't worry about the fat grams so much.  Manage the protein and carb number and the rest take care of itself.

Up the water intake to 100 ounces minimum.

You are one smart woman!   You have read and absorbed all the best bits of info on here.   I don't see why you can't get to your goal in one year.   I started at 218 on surgery date, a little bit lighter than you, and I should be at my goal by the end of the year.   That's 7 months - you can DO THIS in 12 months!

The other two pieces of advice that Elina and G5x5 gave you are key:   watch those calories because it's super-easy to go over 800 as you get further and further out.   And work your way up to 100 oz. of water per day.  Immediately post-op you will think this is impossible.  It won't be as tough as it sounds once you're 2-3 months out and exercising.  And don't worry about the fat; a little extra isn't going to hurt you at all.

One thing I didn't see you mention is what system you're going to use to track your food.  I assume you WILL be tracking it because you've set specific food guidelines for yourself.  My Fitness Pal has been a godsend for me.

My other piece of advice if you want to lose it fast:   completely abstain from sugar and all other "white" foods.  That would be potatoes, breads, pasta, rice or any other white carbs like crackers.  Do people who get the sleeve eat those things and do well?  Sure, you've read the posts and know that not everyone sticks to the super-low carb plan you've set for yourself and they still reach their goal weight.  But since YOU have decided to go under 40 grams of carb per day, following the no-sugar/no white carb rule will make it a whole lot easier.

Best of luck - and welcome to the loser's bench!

Hi Tracy,

Thanks for such an informative response!!! :)

Yes, I have signed up for My fitness pal & it really is a godsend! But I find that I cannot customize my calories & protein and other stuff, its like the site gives me a set std of 1208 calories per day & theres no way I am going to eat so much! But nevertheless it helps a lot, and yes I will be tracking my food intake.

Thanks for the piece of advice, I will abstain from white foods as much as possible, but sometimes give in, I will still keep 40 gm carb or less a day ( give or take 2 or 3)

You have been doing great with this, and I hope you reach ur goal in 7 months!!! Good luck :)

You can customize MFP goals but you have to be on the web version, not the app. From the My Home tab, click the Goals sub-tab, then the green Change Goals button, then select the Custom radio button, then the green Continue button.
