Anyone get pregnant after surgery? I am 2 years out and just found out I am.. we are excited and even though I am still over weight and have a lot more to lose I'm OK with it... my question is did you carry full term, did you have to take extra vitamins.. just looking for feedback

Interesting you ask this question because I was wondering how long after surgery can you get pregnant.  Part of my decision to get /the surgery is Im 40 and to improve my chances of pregnancy.  I'm scheduled for the sleeve on /11/27/13.  What is reccomended? .

My doctor also said 18 months. They said definitely wait a year, 2 is best. I had to agree to use 2 forms of birth control the first year.

most surgeons say 2 years , you will need more supplements, you will need to talk to a good nut

also talk to your ob gyn about it , as you are special needs now

but many have had healthy babies after wls , it just takes a little more work

Congrats! I am an OB RN and I agree with other posts, talk to your OB. Even if you do not need to have your first OB appointment until you are 8-10 weeks or so, you should be able make an appointment prior to that for a sit down to make a plan going forward.

You will need a pre natal vitamin with 800mcg of folic acid and a DHA supplement, either in the vitamin or separate. This is for the baby's brain development (and good for mom)

Depending on your starting weight you may be advised to gain between 10-25#, making sure you concentrate on any extra calories coming from protein. And stay well hydrated, avoid caffeine (no need but acceptable in small amounts in pregnancy) but it's a diuretic and can dehydrate you.

Regular activity and rest...just take good care of yourself and your body will take good care of that baby!!
