How Bad Did You Do Yesterday?
I was not as good as I would have liked to have been. I don't think it will show up on the scale, but I did a couple of bad things yesterday.
I was pretty good on the amount of what I ate but I did 3 things that were not on my plan for the day:
1. I did not shy away from the sweet potato casserole (that I made because everyone loves it). It has marshmallows on top. I did make it with Splenda/Brown Sugar mix but the marshmallows were the real deal. I did put a lot of extra cinnamon in it so hopefully the thermogenic effects of the cinnamon made up for the marshmallows.
2. I ate two bites of a pumpkin pie/honey cheesecake that my daughter makes every year that is heavenly.
3. I had a couple beers.
All in all not too bad, I worked my ass off all week long so I could skate on through Thanksgiving, so I don't think the scale will go the wrong direction this week. I also managed to stay away from the things I really wanted to eat like the pecan pie, the death by chocolate, the pre-meal appetizers.
What did you do?
Hope everyone had the Thanksgiving and start to Hannukah that they wished for. I will start by saying I prepared for Thanksgiving by taking off 4.5 pounds in the week before. I had a plan that I would have turkey and a couple tablespoons of dressing, sweet potato casserole, and veggie. I stuck to that. I passed on breads and mashed white potato. I also planned to eat a few bites of homemade dessert that looked best to me. I stuck to that. I did have a cafe mocha that was full out sugar. I don't normally do that, but it was what was available at the Breville machine and I chose it not knowing what was going to come out. All in all, I am pleased with choices I made. I was able to get on treadmill for 45 min in morning and evening. Weight is up 1/2 pound this morning. That can happen to me on routine days so I am pleased so far. We will see if that holds true in couple more days. I am back to routine today. I should be fine.
I went into yesterday fully aware that I was going to eat what I wanted and I did..the awesome thing is..
i just can't eat that much..
was at my sisters..she is an awesome cook!
i had a slice of ham and cheese Stromboli that she makes and is delicious...
a slice of cheddar cheese...maybe 3-5 green/black olives
dinner I had maybe 1/2 slice turkey( I'm not a turkey girl..can eat deli turkey till it comes out my ears...the "real" thing..Ehhh)
tbs of sweet potato casserole w/ the marshmallow...
4 roasted Brussels sprouts
1 stuffed mushroom ( then went back later and had another!!!,)
tbs of stuffing
1/2 of 1 small ( about 3inches) Italian stuffed pepper....
desert I had my slice of my sisters cheesecake...can you say CRACK!!!! Got in about 1/2 of that.
and a thin sliver choc. Cream pie...picked at that
i woke up to a 2 lbs gain...and that's OK, better than I thought it be...it'll come off..back on plan today....
also didn't drink enough yesterday maybe only 6 cups and I was licking my lips so I knew I was a little dehydrated....
It was a great party. My grandmother hasn't had a holiday party of any kind at her house for a couple years due to some bad health issues, but has been doing really well this last year. It was so nice to be there and to see some aunts, uncles, and cousins I haven't seen in a while. I didn't eat a lot, but I didn't stick to my plan. I had some winter squash that had a little brown sugar on it, a bite of mashed potatoes & gravy, and a couple bites of 7-layer salad with my turkey. Then later on I had half of a pumpkin bar with cream cheese frosting. My calories were still in check, so I am actually not beating myself up over not staying on plan. I also didn't gain or lose an ounce this morning, so this makes it even better.
Fortunately, I had to make the Turkey. Usually that process eliminates hunger along the way!
I started the day after the bird was roasting with a 90 minute workout.
I tasted the sweet potatoes and a bite of 2 desserts. There was a spinach dip that I probably woyld have finished a year ago, that was limited to about 3-4 bites.... solid bites!
All in all, with litterally 10 different side dishes, 4 pies, and 2 turkeys, I will chalk it up as an A-.
The scales was fortunately my friend this morning!
I cannot believe how different life is with VSG. It started by walking on the treadmill for 40 min, but the wildest thing happened while listening to the parade... I started to JOG. What the hell.. I have been fat my whole life I never have jogged. It felt really good, even if it was only for a few minutes.
Then I went to my sister's and helped her with the feast. She is one who goes all out. I had a few bites of turkey, ham, stuffing, and brussels sprouts. I made bread and piece of that, along with the cranberry salad I made with stevia.
I swear there was 0.5 dessert per person - I real dessert storm.. I split a tiny piece of pumpkin cheesecake with my hubby.
and very surprising - NO ALCOHOL. These events are normally no holds barred glutony. It still was, but I was in control. I tried some more stuffing later, but my sleeve objected.
I use a fitbit and met all my goals and stayed under my MFP calorie target for the day. And I looked sexy in my Gwynnie Bee Kiyonna blouse....
I planned to tackle the day. I started my day at the gym. I did an hour on the treadmill. Even jogged for 5 minutes! I had 2 dinners to get thru. At the first dinner I had turkey (3oz), green beans and I made mushrooms stuffed with green bean casserole (from eggface). I skipped all desserts!!!!
At the second dinner, I again had turkey (3oz), another stuffed mushroom and 2 baby carrots. I skipped all desserts again, but I did munch a bit since it was an 8 hour dinner. I had 5 wheat thins with 2 pieces of havarti cheese and 4 tortilla chips and buffalo chicken dip.
I did drink an entire gallon of water throughout the day to help curb the munching.
I didn't gain any on the scale, but i didn't lose either... I am going to count that as a win for a holiday!!!!
