If there was any lingering doubt in my mind that this surgery is the right choice and this is the right time, it would have been completely drowned out today.  I picked up my pre-op bloodwork results and, for the first time in my life, I'm "at risk for diabetes."

I'm always on the lookout for "signs". They can be just the thing you need for a boost of confidence. A nice pat on the back that says,  "Hey,  you're doing the right thing! "

I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes/insulin resistance several years ago and have tried unsuccessfully to get the weight off on my own and via Weigh****chers.  It hasn't worked and my blood sugar labs aren't going down either.  The last time they went up, my endocrinologist said she was expecting me to "cross the threshold" into full blown diabetes at any time and once diabetic, always diabetic.  it's one of the main reasons that I started considering WLS seriously.  Hopefully I'm not too late.  Good on both of you for not letting it go too long.  I have enough major health problems already without adding diabetes to the list.

I understand. Before my surgery I was insulin resistant. Then as my weight increased I developed high blood pressure followed by high cholesterol. My sister was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012. Soon afterwards I heard that obesity increases your risk for cancer. I had been thinking about it but didnt like the two options. Then someone told me about the sleeve. I knew that was what I was waiting for! I had my surgery a week before my 53rd birthday. It was the best birthday present that I could have ever given myself. After a good recovery and moving into the full food stage I began to feel like I am no longer being held hostage by food. I eat protein and veggies. With two weeks of surgery I was off all the meds associated to my weight. After loosing 50 plus pounds, I have alot of people telling me that I look younger! Love that! It is a challenge during recovery. I felt like I had done a million situps. After a week I was feeling good and was starting to feel the weight loss. I am so happy that I did this. I am happy that you have gotten the affirmation that it is the right thing for you!  You will be amazed at how great you will feel! I got my sassy back!

It is so nice to come on the boards and see all of this!  I am seeing my surgeon in April and hope beyond hope that he will agree to doing the revision to VSG!  I like to read everyone

sposts from just out of surgery to years out.  It gives a lot of anticipation and happy thoughts about my future.
