Sushi!
When I was in college, I bartended at a Japanese steak house that had a sushi bar. I swore I would never eat sushi and made the usual jokes about it being bait. The sushi chefs got me try the shrimp, shrimp cooked they said. Then octopus. Octopus cooked they said. Then california rolls and then one day a tuna roll. I liked the taste but the texture took a bit to get used to. Then finally, tuna sushi and I was hooked. I was so spoiled working there. I could eat all the sushi I wanted and they usually only charged me $10. When I graduated, I realized quickly, $10 of sushi did not go far and this was in 86.
I always said it was better to go get a hamburger at Whataburger first before going to eat sushi.
I had sashimi for lunch today. The sashimi special comes with 8 pieces of fish, a bowl of rice, a bowl of miso broth and a salad. I knew my stomach was smaller when 5 pieces made me full and I did not eat the other stuff. Pre surgery, that special would have been an appetizer. The good news is I will no longer be able to drop $30 on sushi/sashimi.
For the non-sushi fans, sushi refers to the rice but has become a generic term. Sashimi is the fish with no rice. Love me some raw tuna and salmon. Very good source of protein and healthy fat.
The sushi platter I used to gorge on was probably around $50. I'm a MUCH cheaper date now :D

Is it the raw fish that you dislike? Or fish in general? Since there are a number of rolls that have cooked seafood options!
