How many calories a day?

I agree with the others who have said to watch what you eat. Walking is great for your heart, but will not do much for weight loss. You are doing a great job, but if you want to lose more you will need to cut back on your calories and carbs. I suggest you track every bite and weigh or measure your portions. If you want to lose more, you can. It is up to you. Good luck!!

I thank you all for your responses. I should clarify. I use my fitness pal and track all of my calories . I am staying within my surgeon's guidelines for protein, carbs, and fat. What I was asking all of you was how MANY calories you all consume a day. I know to eat less.

I just started maintenance last week.  I ate 1,100 calories a day last week, and I didn't lose any weight.  So that might be my limit.  But we'll see how it goes over the next few weeks.

I find moving to maintenance very scary.  I know how to lose weight.  I don't trust myself to maintain.  But only time will tell.

I eat 1400 to maintain 136 pounds.  To lose I go to 1150 and that takes off 1/2 pound a week.  I can lose a pound a week at 900 calories a day, but find it difficult to stay that low.  I exercise an hour a day and never subtract exercise calories.

When you say you never subtract exercise calories, do you mean you don't add in more calories to eat or don't?

I never add in more calories to make up for exercise.  I have done three hours a day of exercise on 900 calories a day and still lost a pound a week.  I am seven years out from RNY (almost) and that is how my metabolism works now.
