Shopping and Shoes NSVs
I've got my voice recital (eek!) on Sunday and I have this super adorable dress to wear.

I needed to get shoes and a thing for my arms to wear and went shopping today for those things.
NSV #1 - I was able to buy something off the rack at JC Penney. Boggle. Pretty sure that's never happened in the history of ever.
NSV #2 - I went to DSW for shoes and could wear them! My feet aren't all bulgy and ridiculous looking! Totally unexpected. I've always worn rather clunky shoes in the past but today I bought two pairs of actually pretty and classy shoes! Very neat :)
I also had to have the dress tailored. I normally wouldn't spend this money on a dress (between the original cost and the tailoring) but it's for my voice recital, so that's special. I'm also going to wear the heck out of this dress at every chance I get until it no longer fits! The dress needed to be hemmed, have the arm holes fixed, and be taken in at the sides. I've never needed anything taken in before.

I fell in love with the dress months ago and was waiting until I had an idea of what size I'd need before ordering it. I'm so happy with it! I'm looking forward to ordering future dresses. :) But maybe not until I reach my final form.
I sing alto with my choir :D I was a soprano in my youth but now I'm a mezzo soprano. I had to take a 4 week break from singing post-op, which was sad times, and I'm still working on getting all of my stamina and breath control back, but I'm feeling mostly confident about my recital :D

How cool? I've always pictured myself a Brunhilde singing below the staff. :) I haven't gone back to my choir yet - I'm singing hymns in the crowd at church and I can't get through a verse without stopping to rest. My church choir is one of those fancy cathedral-ish groups, so I know I'm not ready yet to handle Palestrina!
