I'm feeling lucky

For multiple different reasons, I was never a person who cooked; instead, I ate out almost every single meal for years. With various diets I would end up cooking or grabbing easy pre-made foods but I always stayed in my comfortable ruts. Since I first started thinking about having WLS, I started exploring my cooking options and my local grocery stores. I live incredibly close to a nice higher end type grocery store. There are so many really neat options there in every single department. And that is why I feel really lucky. This is such a huge advantage to me with this journey. I know there are so many people out there that aren't as fortunate and I really admire their fortitude and dedication to making quality food choices.

No one in my family really "gets" why I kept telling them how lucky I felt about this grocery store but I thought maybe the folks here would understand.

How fantastic that you've got a well stocked grocery store!  It really makes a difference.

I stopped at a random grocery store with my mom a few weeks ago and it didn't even have garlic.  WTF!  How can a store not have garlic?!

Garlic is a must have staple. I can't imagine a grocery store not carrying it. I really think this fantastic store is going to contribute to my store. So many yummy and interesting options that I look forward to experimenting with over the coming months.

I was totally shocked by the lack of garlic.

This probably sounds weird, but I love going to other grocery stores when I'm visiting people and seeing all the different things that vary by location/brand :P
