Thanks for the insight. I have not heard this before about stomach acid. I'll be following up with my doctor's office. Because, I definitely don't want to overeat and stretch my brand new stomach.

How do they determine if I need a PPI? Or do I just start taking it and if the pangs go away... success?

Is it normal for me to feel so hungry? I was sleeved on 1/12 and am now well into the pureed foods stage. I'm eating high protein soups blended up, some eggs and still drinking protein shakes.

It's not 'head' hunger, I have reall hunger pains in my stomach. Am I eating the wrong things? Or will I always be eating every 2 hours?

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

how much fluid are you getting? 64+ ounces a day?

Dehydration can mimic hunger. Dehydration can be deadly, and it is the leading cause of many problems with new post opers.

Make sure you get your fluid ...all of it.

It can take awhile for all those nasty little ghrelins (the ones left over) to die down.  Also, it could very well be that you are having excess acid production.  Your stomach is still producing the same amount of acid for a regular stomach...but now it's in a tiny tube.  Excess acid behaves exactly like getting the "hungries".

If you're not taking a PPI for acid I would suggest getting on one soon.  And try this, if you pop a couple Tums when you get that hungry feeling, if it goes away it wasn't "hunger".  It was acid.  A good test.
