Topic: RE: In what ways do you use your SF Syrups??
I put some 1% milk in my miniblender, add a scoop of protein powder, add some SF chocolate syrup, and voila, a chocolate shake.
Watch it, these are very filling!

Topic: RE: SF syrups - brands and where to get them?
Phyllis,
In the walmart where I shop, they are in one of those hanging shelf things at the end of the ice cream aisle.
They are not in the aisle with the pancake type syrups.
If you can't locate them, ask an emplyee.
Hope this helps,
Fred

I really like the sf chocolate at walmart, I think it is the store brand called FV. I think, but am not sure that they also selol a SF butterscotch.
Very reasonable price.

Topic: RE: Coping Mechanisms
Yep, there really is a "rant and rave" forum, and I go there every once in a while just to read the posts and their replies.
It's a real hoot, and some of the posts lift my spirits by making my problems seem very petty. Other posts make me think, for a change, instead of just assuming.
And some of the posts tickle the hell out of me. Some posters are very clever in their choice of words, cynical, tactful, or just let it all hang out.
I suggest you give it a lookover, if you don't like it you don't have to go back.

Topic: RE: Coping Mechanisms
I have not been sleeved yet, but I plan to go on the "rant and rave" forum to vent when I need another outlet for my frustration instead of food.
I plan to be the biggest pain in the ass, offering unsolicited advice about topics I know nothing about, and generally making a big pest out of myself.
I assume, sooner or later I will be banned from the boards due to complaints from other members, but it won't bother me, I will just change my ID, and come back to annoy others.
Feel free to use this coping mechanism, or with your own modifications, if it will help.
Good luck, Khepera,
Fred

Great post, and great responses!
Thanks ladies, really appreciate you inputs.

Topic: RE: Taking the easy way to lose weight
Yeah, it's like having an appendectomy is taking the easy way out of appendicitis,
or having a gall bladder removed is taking the easy way out of gall bladder disease,
or having a c-section is taking the easy way out of childbirth.
Or is it just me?

How long after your surgery before you could take your meds without crushing them?
All answers appreciated,

What is the difference between regular hunger and Head hunger?
How do they differ?
If they feel different, how?

Nia,
I think you should have flipped the guy off!
It may not be considered lady like, but the disrespect he showed you indicates he is not a gentleman either, and deserved any response you felt was appropriate.
Please do not let that idiots display of childishness ruin your day, you are too good to let him get you down.
All the best,
Fred

Topic: RE: Can I really lose with the vsg
Listen to Ros-Marie, her post tells it like it is.
If you look for ways to beat the sleeve, I imagine you can find some.
If you work with your sleeve you should be just fine.

Topic: RE: Kaiser CA VSGs?
Don't know if it is any help, but Kaiser in Colorado recommends the lap-band or Roux en y, but leaves it up to the patient and surgeon to determine the best surgical option. So I'm going for the sleeve.
Biggest problem is the long wait time due to the number of patients requesting bariatric surgery.
I have no idea if the same protocol applies at Kaiser in California.
Fred

Topic: RE: Over 60 crowd
Hi Leane,
I am currently 70, and hope to have the VSG this coming August, when I will be 71.
The decision as to which type of bariatric surgery is best is a personal one, and depends on many factors, some of which have been addressed above.
If it were me, I would look over the postings in this forum of OH, as well as those of the roux en Y forum, or any other forum of interest. This might give you an idea of the different problems and complications experienced by those participating in each surgery type, as well as the successes and, possibly, needs for surgical revisions.
Good luck,
Fred

Topic: RE: Kaiser PRE-OP CLASS question
Hi Lisa,
I am also a Kaiser WLS patient, but haven't started the pre-op classes yet. BellaLuna (aka Susan) recently had the VSG done by Dr. Metz (who sounds like the surgeon you will be using).
She may not be able to answer your specific question, but she has been kind enough to answer some of my queries about her experience. Also, her profile filled in some of my questions.
Hope this helps,
Fred

Topic: RE: Need advise!
Kaiser has this new plan where I can be a volunteer fat donor.
They say I have enough belly fat to save the lives of at least four anorexic teen agers.
Then they went around and looked at my butt and started giving each other the high fives, and whooping it up.
I said "What? What?"
They said they could get enough butt fat off of me to flash freeze and put in their frozen fat bank which is two doors down from the frozen sperm bank. Said it would be great for when fat donations dropped off.
So, what do all of you think? Should I be a fat donor, or hold out for the sleeve?
Be honest!
Thanks,
Fred

Topic: RE: VSG Alternative.
I asked the medical staff at the Kaiser weight loss clinic why they don't develop a strain of sterile, hypoallergenic tape worms.
Then I could waddle into the clinic and toss down 3 or 4 tape worm eggs.
Eight months later, I could return as skinny as a starving kid in Africa, take a vermifuge to flush those puppies out, and Bob's your uncle.
But, I guess not too many insurance plans would fork over 10 to 15 thousand for some tape worm eggs.
Way too much greed in the weight loss business.
Hope you have a great day!

Topic: RE: Are there any men here?
Well, I was recently added to the forum, and have posted a couple of times.
Mostly I read other posts and their replies, which has helped me a lot.
I, too, have noticed the paucity of posts by men, but have just put it down to our lack of communication skills.
But welcome aboard, and feel free to ask questions and reply to others.

Topic: RE: Ever lost a friend after your weight loss???
From my perspective, you are losing an acquaintence (excess baggage), not a friend!
