Everyone is entitled to their opinion and many opinions have been posted here.  However, I was in attendance and no one asked to be treated special, given anything, the fact was prior to choosing the restaurant and making our plans for another location it was asked if Red Lobster honored the discount because we were planning a monthly meeting and we have a lot of different stages of WLS patients, some as early as a couple of weeks out, and explained that we thought that their establishment in another location would be a great place to attend.  We were told ahead of time, prior to meeting, that yes the children's menu would be available for anyone that would like to order off it.  Now with that said!!!!!   The manager at the location, refused to even speak to us, she kept sending the host, instead of herself to address the issue, problem number one, ignoring the issue, then her excuse was that it was a "Corporate" rule, problem number two, I myself asked when this rule was put into place, because I am the one that inquired about the children's menu ordering, I was told that it has been in place for at least a year, problem number three, I have only had surgery since January and I spoke to Red Lobster just three weeks ago.  Now do you see some inconsistencies?  This is a problem, which I believe that needs to be addressed, because it may be the fact that this particular manager may be one of those individuals that thinks that we have taken the "EASY" way out by having surgery and not allowing us to order off the children's menu was a discriminating action.   Yes, there are ways to get around ordering, taking the food home, paying the price, and simply letting the food go to waste, (personally I still think is a shame with all the individuals that do not have food in their stomachs in this country and others) this alone is why I do not like to order more than I can eat, not to mention the fact that seafood is not the best reheated.  (Personal choice, I know!!!)  I understand and respect the decision of those that do not see an issue with what Red Lobster did, however we could have also been very tacky, for $12.99 we could have ordered the 30-piece shrimp dinner and probably four of us could have eaten off that.  Therefore, if you want to discuss putting business out of business, unless they have a sharing clause, there is always a way around that as well, by the way Red Lobster does not charge for sharing, nor do the state on their menu that you can't, because I checked into this as well, when we mentioned this, that is when they decided that they would allow us this one time to order off the children's menu!!! I do not mean to sound harsh, but when it was asked for support, it was not asked in a way to be attacked for asking for something free, or discounted, it was simply asked to not be discriminated against.  By the way, my husband does work with a person that has been asked not to return to an "All You Can Eat Buffet" because they said he ate too much, or they would have to charge him for two people, therefore that does go on as well.  Just like the airlines that charge for two seats!!!!  Yes, I am normal now and I was normal before my surgery, the only difference is, I am smaller and healthier, but I am still NORMAL, I am ME!!!

a. you don't sound harsh, imo. b. the story that you tell is a little bit different than the original post--if you were told ahead of time that you could order off the children's menu, then that's a legitimate fuss. c. if you choose to order one meal and share it, that is your choice. you'r not actually costing a restaurant money by doing that as you would by ordering a child's plate with a price that doesn't cover the expense of the meal itself. there is a difference. if the restaurant doesn't have a policy against sharing, go for it. for that matter, imo, if they don't have a problem with adults ordering off the kid menu, then go for it, too. it's a matter of their policy. d. i don't think there was any attacking--there was voicing of a differing opinion. that is not attacking. e. if you have an issue with people going hungry around the world and think ti shameful that some people don't eat everything on their plates, i respectfully submit that having social gatherings at restaurants is a bit hypocritical. especially social gatherings for people who are obese or formeraly obese.  f. normal was used in quotes and was intended to refer to those who don't have to order off the children's menu or who have not had to have surgical intervention to control their eating. i, personally, did not eat normally prior to wls. if you took offense at the use of the term normal, then i apologize.  g. i'm sure restaurants do have to intervene with some folks at buffets--and i'm equally sure that some folks find that discriminatory just as some find the practice of charging for two airline seats discriminatory (I don't have an issue with either practice as long as the policy is clearly stated and enforced across the board). my point in using that reference was simply to illustrate the fact that many pre-ops didn't think twice about eating two or three times as much food as the average Joe, but now they expect to be given different treatment due to their appetite.

I personaly  love to go to Red Lobster and  had found a way to get  just the right amount there is a section on the menu where it read added on. I usally get the added on crab legs. I would order the half pound added on and that is all. There is alway someone with me and I also had very good  waiters and waitress who was willing to work with me. I never had any problem so look for that section on the menu. My daughter love to the snow crab legs and  there is an added on on that one for 4 dollars. So who need the mash potaoes or salads I am happy witht the crab legs. I go there all the time. Lost 110 pounds in less than 6 months

I have a card that my surgeon gave me but I have not once pulled it out of my wallet to use at a resturant.  I decided to have this surgery and I don't feel that I need to explain that to a waiter or a manager so I just take my leftovers home to eat later for my next meal. As for the Red Lobster...  I love their snow crab legs and get them all the time.  I can eat the whole pound since the meat is probably not a full pound.  Great source of protein and vitamins.  I also had the crab stuffed flounder and that was super good too. When I take my food home for leftovers, I use a steamer to reheat it... much better than microwave. :)

Get over it!!! Act like a 'normal' adult---after all, the reason you had WLS was to BE a 'normal'' adult, wasn't it? Order off the regular menu, eat what you want/can, and THROW THE REST AWAY. If you're so d*mned cheap you CAN'T throw it away, take it home to your dog, the neighbor's dog, or the local pound. Stop thinking becaue you chose to have WLS you're 'entitled' to some sort of special treatment. You're NOT.
