Hello , i am not sure if I will be around tomorrow. my hubby is going to be home, so i won't be online. he's taking me out for dinner to have my favorite food..... SEAFOOD!!! YUM! i wanted to share my happiness with you all! TOMORROW is my Weight loss surgery Anniversary  JUNE 8, 2004 i can't believe it has been 3 years for ME WOW it went so fast!!   gosh , i learned so much since surgery  - june 8th ,2004 :-)    its so amazing....  this surgery to me........ is all mental. so its up to ME to change. and take full control over what I put in my own mouth!!  i learned how to change my behaviors. i learned how to push away all the bad foods. i can not believe how much willpower i have.  oh the list goes on and on....  and the beauty of this all is that , i do this all without thinking about it :-) i learned to eat 5- 6 small portion meals throughout the day. i watch my portion sizes. portion sizes are so very important. eating like this has helped me to be satisfied and to be honest ...i am less hungry. it also helped me with my cravings as well. i do not crave as much either. i always remember to eat protein first, then vegies , and fruit. I trained and worked VERY hard on trying to develop NEW eating healthy habits.   i always have a plan. for example , i always have foods already prepared and ready for me to grab and eat. I choose the right carbohydrates. I am very choosy about those I eat. I Steer away from simple carbohydrates   I always keep myself Motivated! i set small goals. I always surround myself with good and healthy examples. I always try to avoid food triggers. I always, ALWAYS Focus on the positive!    And most of all ........I NEVER give up  And of course all this learning and training yourself to eat healthier .....does take time to develop.... it doesn't just happen over night.... its like anything else really ... for example , training your dog to do tricks , you need to keep on practicing those tricks with your dog everyday... right ? :-) the same thing goes for training yourself how to eat better. anyway , it eventually got alot easier for me and now i hardly think about what i need to do in order to keep thin and healthy. ( can't believe it , but it is so true)lol WOW! if I had a hard time , I always fell back on my support system for help family , friends and surgeon's support group...     to me , having a good support system will keep you stay motivated and really push you when you need it.  THEY are always there for you when you fall off track.  support systems are awesome!! i just wish what I knew now before surgery and in the beginning of my WLS... is to start getting on the right track and learn and change my behaviors it would have been so much easier to get through the journey. if i started to change my ways. So my advise to newly post ops is ....  if you start right away on learning and changing your behaviors now.... it will be alot easier for you in your long term post op. :-) the same goes with exercising. get into a good habit with exercising regularly. you will learn to grab the healthier foods ( without thinking about it and if you are going out somewhere you will pack healthier snacks... and also even if you are on vacation... you are traveling anywhere. you will not even think twice about what foods YOU NEED to eat. because now i have developed this healthy habit and it has carried me through my long term post op. and to be honest , it is so much easier.... this surgery will condition you to get into a good healthy habits and it will automatically just come naturally :-) i don't think about what i want to eat, what i want to drink , or even what I want to wear anymore. i can just go into the closet and pull out anything    and seriously , i look really good...LOL hahaha :-)  i just LOVE that part ...  when i go out to eat, i automatically without thinking...go for the healthy good foods , seafoods , chicken....etc etc...  i ask for dressings ... all on the side. :-) i ask for them not to soak my food in any kind of sauces.  i tell the waiter how i want my foods be prepared. i also tell them that i am a diabetic ( even thought i'm really not a diabetic ) and i can't have any sugary sauces. So the waiter puts that in their mind and acts like if I am really a diabetic and they will be careful what they serve me. Because I honestly... do not want and care for any sauce or any toppings that they dress up the plate and food with... i eat from the main menus, and what i don't eat , i bring home   so if you start to condition yourself , and learn how to get into a good healthy habit  the OLD bad eating habits will eventually disapear. :-)  anyway , this is what i learned since my surgery and its still truely amazing  my personal goal really is to be 110 lbs. i am not even close to that ... lol   but so what ...   everyday i just work hard at this ...  and eventually i will get there. i never give up. i am strong , determined, dedicated to this surgery, i stay motivated and i am ALWAYS positive. i don't let anyone or anything.... stand in my way from STAYING on track! i am So very happy with my weight loss.  i currently weigh 130 lbs i am a size 4-6 what else could I ask for ??? yes to win the lottery would be nice ...lol hahaha :-)  LIFE is awesome!! hugss Lizzy
