Thanks Lisa for posting your story.I have been having pain in my stomach but it's mostly at night and in the morning. It feels like to me its's something to do with me using the bathroom(or can't0.But I went and had a upper GI and lower bowel test done.I called for the results last week and the nurse said it looked like a slight internal hernia but didnt know if the Dr. wanted to do anything about it.Should I call back and speak to the Dr.My pain is really bad at night. Thanks again for the post.

Definately make an appointment to see your actual surgeon and review the results of the test with him/her.........  especially because you are still having pain...... good luck! lisa :)

Thanks so much for the information! People sometimes don't realize this could happen and isn't rare after RNY. I was a year out when it happened to me. It also happened to my Aunt when she was about  a year out.

Thanks again!

Hugs

PLEASE tell me the name of your surgeon.... if you can PM me his phone number and name I would greatly be appreciative.   I may be moving to NC in the next year and I had a kinked bowel/obstruction and void in the mesentary/Petersens at SIX years post op.  NO ONE is immune to this and it could happen at any time.  I had no complications until year SIX.

Anyways.. I found a great surgeon here who took me seriously and fixed me by tacking down all the intestines so they don't move around as freely as before.  I have been stressed about moving because I need to find a surgeon not only good with bariatric surgery but someone who is SKILLED at fixing obstructions and complications with the surgery as I never know what I will be facing in the future.  Lots of people have given me names of their surgeons but I want someone who I KNOW has dealt with mine and your issue before.  Thank you for posting this.  Where in NC is he?  I may be moving to the Greenville area.   Dana

Hi, My surgeon was in Las Vegas, and now retired.  But, the wonderful bariatric surgeon who fixed me up is in Cary, NC, and his name is Paul Enochc.  His website is www.surgerync.com.  Good Luck!! lisa :) PS ... you look awesome!!

THANKS!!!!  I had the same thing happen.  My original surgeon is in Texas and when I moved to KY 6 years ago, NO one was doing the surgery in Lexington.... finally they started doing them and by the time I had my obstruction at my 6 year post-op self there was a very skilled surgeon in Georgetown who fixed me up!  Hopefully I won't have any problems but I went through a lot of surgeons who didn't want the "red-headed stepchild" (other surgeon's patient).  No one wanted to deal with me.  So I didn't want to go through the same thing again when I move to NC.  I mean, being a bariatric surgeon is one thing, but to be able to grow in your profession and keep up on the latest problems LONG term post-ops are having are another.  YAY!!! He would only be an hour from where I will be moving! Thanks for the compliment!  I will be 7 years out in November.  Dana
