Ok, I see people describing themselves as slow losers on the boards all of the time and most of these people have lost more than me.  Am I a slow loser too?  Gosh, I HATE this feeling....I hate comparing...but I just hit my 5 month mark and have lost 64 lbs...but only ONE lb in the last month.  WTF is up with that? Am I a slow loser?    Is that just a stall?  Gosh, I'm so sad...I was so spoiled with the rapid weight loss that its almost depressing me to be losing so slowly now.   Before I had surgery, I told myself that I wouldn't think like this and here I go.... SIGH!

It is my belief that most people who call themselves slow losers are really quite normal. We tend to compare ourselves to the ones who drop weight the fastest. You are doing great. Your body will do what it does at your pace. It took me 2 yr to drop 150 #. I just followed the rules. It works. I am maintaining now still just doing my level best to follow my Dr instructions and live a full life. It is a pet peeve of mine all this beating ourselves up about rate of loss. That is why I post about measuring and realistic expectations. We did this for a better life not to beat the hell out of ourselves! I hope you can be happy with you and for you. You are doing the deal. Laurie

Id say your in a stall.  Usually the slower losers are lightweights (folks who were not that heavy when they had surgery (have only 100lbs to lose, etc)  Me! lol   I lose from 2nd month out, about 5lbs a month. They say 10lbs a month is average, and you seem right there. Just keep doing your plan, working out, drinking water, etc..  You'll be fine. Suzanne

A slow loser is "me".  I had surgery 2.5 yrs ago and it took almost 2 yrs to get to goal.  Actually am now below doc's goal.  Having said that, I was also considered a light weight (needing to loose approx. 100 lbs. or so).  It didn't get me upset and try to not let it get to you.  I know it's frustrating but put away the scale and measure yourself.  Sometimes you'll lose inches vs. lbs. and as long as your losing/not gaining you're in the right place.  Give your body time to adjust and keep on going... Good luck,
