My hair got curlier after each of my pregnancies. Maybe I can get a little more curl from WLS too! Too soon to tell yet.

I've been telling people this ever since my regrowth of hair grew in!!  I'm 18 months post op and my hair is curly/frizzy and I CAN'T STAND IT!!  It was wavy before surgery (especially underneath, but not on top of my head), but now its nothing but curly.  I thought it was the area I moved to (I moved from CA to Oregon), like the humidity must be higher here...  but maybe IT IS the surgery that did this! I can barely get it straight anymore. It takes a LOT of work now :( and must use anti-frizz serum to smooth it, or it looks wirey and frizzy :(

Two words: Straightening Iron! I don't know what i ever did without mine.  I have always had very curly hair.  Humidity is my enemy #1!!  I heard that after you go through the losing phase of wls, your hair comes back thicker and better than before.  I never heard curly/frizzy.  So, what happens to those of us who start out with curly???  Guess I'll find out. My hair grew back in curly.  It was always thick and mostly straight with a slight wave to it, and now if it air dries or gets wet it's mostly curly.   I think it has to do with the shock to our systems combined with hormone changes as we are losing weight. I swear by an ionic hair dryer and my Sedu straightening iron! Best, Holly

My hair came back in curly as well I spoke to my doc about this and the twist he put on it was that maybe because prior to surgery...Most of us (not all) we on several different medications for stuff like blood pressure, diabetes, and other medical problems due to our Obesity ...I am speaking of myself here but I know that prior to my surgery I rarely to almost never took vitamins....also since losing alot of our weight we have come off of most medications and we are eating healthy than we have in a long time...maybe from getting all the nutriant and  vitamins and keeping active and exercising maybe we were ment to have curly hair...and all the bad foods and lack of vitamins and no exercise is what made our hair lose some of its natural stuff...not sure but this is a different look on it...
