does saggy skin dampen the joy of losing weight?

My only problem is my lower tummy ... And it bothers me b/c I do get some sores on occasion from it (minor, but painful).  My arms are fantastic, and my neck is no problem.  My tummy can be hidden under the right clothing.  I try not to look in the mirror when I get out of the bathtub (LOL). I am doing very well, thanks!  I moved from Rochester and was so busy looking for a job ... Stress of moving, being out of a job for a few months, etc ... Just had no time to get on the boards.  How are you doing??? Annette

I truely hate my skin issuses on my stomach. Since I've lost 170 lbs and 23 inches off my 'hips' alone, yeah my stomach area has a LOT of loose skin.  I just hope I lose the last part of the weight I need to lose so I can someday get the lower body lift.  That would help me SO much :)  I'd like to get my arms/breasts done eventually as well but if I have to live with the bat wings, I have to live with them.  My stomach is def. the bigger issue :)

Of course I would rather have the body of a 20 year old lol but even with plastics that wouldn't happen lol. I am happy with how I am. No matter how much is baggin and saggin ( or creaking for that matter lol ) I have, I wouldn't trade a single sag for how I was living before. I have lost over 237lbs so far so of course there is going to be a skin price for carrying  around all that and then losing it. But its a price I pay gladly. I knew before I even had surgery that plastics were not in my future unless medically necessary. So far I have nothing that would even get me close to qualifying for plastics so with what I do have I live with it with as positive of an attitude as possible. Besides... in the end, my husband doesn't mind how I look so I really have no reason to complain about how I look either *grin*.

Best wishes to you on your WLS journey!! Happy Holidays!! *huggles*

Dr. Clements saved me!!! Thank you Dr, Clements!!!  If life deals you lemons, make lemonade.   I love being married. It's so great to find that one special person  you want to annoy for the rest of your life.

Not for me!!! I asked hubby during a close moments if he minded touching my body. He said not in a million years, he loves my body no matter what shape (which right now looks kinda like a melting snowman =). I just pull the skin up (kinda like undies) and say, well, when I have PS, THIS is what I will look like. Then I pull out a before picture and say I would rather be like this than like that.  Spanx me baby!!!! They are awesome as well, help when you have something that you want to wear that is clingy =) It is all good to me =)

I've got no turkey neck.  My loose skin is all southward.  It didn't dampen the joy of losing weight, but it did increase the joy of wearing lycra.

Mello - are you in some alternate dimension where the time is different than here on earth?  You say you are 3 days post-op, but your signature says your RNY is dated 12/24 - huh?  As far as skin issues go - here's my thing:  I had two babies 26 and 28 years ago.  The stretch marks that  left on my body are so enormous that they literally show through the current fashionable tissue weight T-shirt fabrics.  So, I avoid that fabric like the plague.  I am at least 6 months pre-op, and I have issues already - so what will be new when I finally become thin?  At least I'll have a wider selection of clothes to disguise my figure flaws in.
