Yikes -- there is NO reason to live with loud, nasty farts.  No thanks.  Unless you are a 13 yo boy away at camp... there is nothing funny about it. I vote for the Flagyl too!  I was having a lot of issues with gas myself (because I couldn't stay away from the carbs).  I took Flagyl for 2 weeks and now take a very low maintenance dose only 3 days a week and have virtually NO gas and even my poop hardly smells!  It started working after only 2 days... miracle stuff, really.

I am in the same boat!! I Stink like nobody business and I don't even know what to do about it!! When I was married I didn't really care after 12 years of marriage but now that  I am single I can honestly say it is keeping me from dating and traveling with friends cause I never know when it is gonna hit!! I am 2 years out and have just started getting back on the program of eating right and getting protein and vitamins in and that seems to even make it worse cause now I am much more regular as before I was usually constipated!! Now I smell always!! My kids call it the Danger Zone!! lol!! It's funny but it has really started to affect my everyday life.......... When I gotta go I gotta go! And this gas is the most horrendous smell you could imagine and same when I use the bathroom!!! Man O Man it is horrible!!  But now after reading all the comments on your post I plan on talking to the doc about it!! I am excited that there may be a possibility that it is not so normal with the surgery!!

ME too! I am so glad that others are as bad!~I knew about it before surgery but never imagined the smell could be so horrible and If I eat right -it not nearly so bad! I mean gas causeing foods like beans and brocolli still gives me gas but it is not the same! Those carbs just hit the intestines and cause the smell!~UGH
If we don’t put our efforts into creating what we want, then we have to put our efforts into coping with what we get!

I had gastric bypass and then I had to have a second surgery to fix another stomach problem. But, I am working as a EMT and I am trying to get my clinicals done for my paramedic program.
So, I know what you are talking about the gas being unbearable, especially for others. Its causing problems, when I am doing my ride time. But the thing for me is that my farts aren't something I can just stop. Sometimes I fart and not even know that I fart until it stinks like a hurd of pigs just took a crap in the back of the truck.

I taked to my doctor and he told me that its because I am taking in to much sugar or carbs, well I don't eat that much and now I don't eat any. But the farts keeped coming, I contacted him and he linked me to a nutritionist and she said that I should cut out drinking milk, so I cut that out and started to take a larger dose of calcium. But, it wasn't the milk! After all of this I have cut out eating most things. But, never the less I have to eat and from what my doctor tells me is that the farting may need to be something that I learn to live with.

All, I know is that if my farts aren't controlled soon my career in the medical field will be a short one.

I had RnY october 2004 and lost 250 Lbs, down from 500,had my hernia repair and tummy tuck a year ago also in October, down to a size 38 jeans from size 76. The surgery absolutely saved my life, but.......... The gas is unbearable, no matter what I eat it gives me rumbleing gas that smells like swamp gas. It makes it really hard to have friends or friendly co-workers.At least when I was 500 pounds I was happy go lucky and likeable. now I'm a recluse surrounded by a stench of what can only be described as moldy. It does seem worce when I eat veggies like lettuce, like a 6" subway samitch and I'll be farting al night. It brings tears to the eyes on my family. Theres GOT TO BE a way to stop this.

I had gastric bypass on August 27, 2007 and have lost 105 lbs.  I also have had a problem with gas and spoke to my surgeon and nutritionist about it.  They did not have any suggestions regarding what to do.  I have tried eliminating things I thought might be causing it, like fruit, and that helped some, but I don't want to give up fruit forever.  I ready several articles on enzymes and about a year ago started taking enzymes in the morning and evening.  The kind I take are a combination of three, for protien digestion, milk digestion, and grain digestion and they are entericly coated so they work in your intestines, not your stomach.  I have had great success, the gas is almost gone, except when I eat gassy food and even then it's not as bad.  I also have recently started taking acidophilus powder that I got from my chiropractor who says that the amount of acidophilus in yogurt is not nearly enough to make much difference.  This also has helped greatly and has helped with the constipation also.  Maybe these things will help you also.
