My ortho just prescribed tramadol for joint pain, and when I filled it the pharmacist said it is an anti inflamatory with some pain med.  Has anybody taken tramadol?  I will check with my surgeon tomorrow, but was just wondering.  Thanks in advance....Sandy

Thanks Rebecca, I was hoping that it was not an oversight on the part of my ortho.  I will sleep better tonight and will double check in the am with my surgeon's office.

It's not an anti-inflammatory (BAD pharmacist!)  It's a weak codeine-like pain reliever.

It can be taken after gastric bypass, no problem.

My PCP gave me tramadol for headaches.  I took one the other day and it made me a little lightheaded.  Other than that it was ok.

Tramadol is not an anti inflammatory - it is a synthetic narcotic like medication for pain.

I'm on it and no problems. Like the others said it's not a antiinflmmatory drug. Scar what some of these new pharmasists(I cant spell this morning either) do now!
