AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!  I am soooo excited I could cry!!  I just found out today that the dumb Lapband will be taken out and I will be revised to the gastric bypass!!  I CAN'T WAIT!! I called my Doctors office right away but the approval only got into the system this afternoon and the doctors office didn't get the notice yet.  If all goes well I will have a date of Halloween (SCARY) or maybe November 3!!  WOO HOO!!!!
Is there any advice for me from people who have had it done "OPEN"????????
PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks everyone!!!

Wow.

Since you're already a seasoned LB'er - you'll probably have it easier.  Good luck.

Congratulations!!!  A revision is something I've been flirting with aswell.  How did you get your insurance company to cover the revision?

'neener-- if your BMI is over 40 again/still, you're probably eligible as if you'd never had surgery.

I'm not a big fan of selling this surgery, but in your case, I think a malabsorptive procedure might be your best shot. I hate watching you struggle.

Congratulations!!!

Question:  Does it have to be OPEN?

Regardless... I'm sure you will do just great!

Hugs.

I had an open RNY on May 12.  They started out lap, but a previous surgery required it to be open for my safety.  They put a support band after surgery, but it was taken off once I hit the floor.  I now have a hernia that will need to be fixed, but that is one of the risks of the open.  So if they put a band on I would use it.  It will be important not to overdo or lift. As far as what you need to do--do what your surgeon says!  Watch for infections.  YOU WILL DO WELL.  Congratulations and best wishes.

I had open RNY on August 22, 2006.  I had a small scar from my breast to my belly button.  It is hardly noticeable. Having the gastric by-pass was the best thing I could have ever done for myself.  I am 300.5 lbs down, from 526 lbs.  I have 29 month old twins, that is how I get my cardio LOL.  I work out with a personal trainer 2-3x a week, and walk on the tread mill most other days of the week.

good luck with your revision,

Peggy
