Apples/apple picking

Prior to surgery (7/2008) I always went apple picking with my family.  There's nothing like an apple right from the tree!  We're going this weekend, and although I will still pick apples I don't even know if I should try to eat  one!  I've tolerated many foods very well so far, but I'm concerned about the natural sugar in the apple.  Any advise or suggestions?

Thanks!

sounds like a great time! My 2 cents for what it's worth, I eat apples just fine, no problems, i'm six months out but I have been eating them for at least a couple of months.  I love them and have no problems  Just start small, half an apple and chew really well and wait to see how it goes. Enjoy your new life!

Thanks for your input.  One of my favorites in the fall is a nice crisp apple with a piece of cheese.  I was hoping someone would tell me it wasn't a prob. and I should try it!

I have a big bowl of Michigan apples sitting on my cupboard and I've been having one every day for the past week or so.  I eat the slices with my latest concoction of Creamy Peanut Butter Fruit Dip and I'm getting my protein along with the fruit.

Here's the recipe for the dip:

I don't have a problem with natural sugars at all.  But if you're worried, try a small apple, or just a half of one and see how you do.

Apple and cheese, what a lovely combination,
I also like apples and nuts...

I was craving apples and then I had 2 within 2 hrs.  I got sick... so now I do eat them, but only 1/2 apple at the time, and peel it. My nut said that the skin on apples are harder to digest and we need to peel most fruits (apples, pears, etc) .
make sure you wa**** very well, there is nothing worse that a food poisoning with our new pouch...

Thank you to everyone for replying.  I just got back from my weekend with my sister and family and it was great.  7 of us went apple picking and then a corn maze etc.  I couldn't resist tasting an apple right off the tree but it was only a bite from someone else' apple.  I was too nervous not being in my own house before tasting one.  Soo tomorrow right after I get home from work. . .  i'm going to try the peanut butter dip too.  It sounds great!  Thanks again!
