Need suggestions please!!!
I have just started an exercise routine of light walking. I got approved this week and I am waiting to get my surgery date. Me, my hubs and son went to the park and walked around the walking trail. It is so pretty! It has a lake in the middle with ducks and geese, and the walking trail is around it. The weather is so nice here, about 60 degrees out. But I have to say I am so sore! And so so out of shape! We did one time around and I was huffung and puffing! :) It was 3/4 of a mile track. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what else I can do in the way of exercise and toning.

Amanda,
This bike is good. I h ave the STAMINA 650, my nutritionist reccomended it and I love it...I also have a Alpine climber, a Bolinger Flex rider and a Total Gym System. I have a treadmill, but hate it...I use the other stuff regularly. YOU WILL LOVE THAT BIKE ! You can adjust the tension and you can track your speed and miles rode...Give it a try..

walk, walk and walk some more.. It's the best thing you can do for yourself, now and post-surgery. Just keep doing it. Don't give up. It really won't take long before you see the difference in yourself. You can also do leg lifts while sitting in a chair, and do the same with your arms. Move them as if you were doing jumping jacks but just with your arms. Start slow, and built up. There are some great videos too for chair exercises and Leslie Sansome has some great videos for walking--- you just walk in place and go faster and a bit longer as you progress.
Don't worry, you're off to a good start. And congrats on getting approved! You are on your way to your new life! Enjoy the journey!

amanda, congratson your surgery date. i to weighed about the same as you. i was 339 i lost 160 pounds. before my surgery i walked in my house with walking tapes. and i lifted light weights. i liked the indoor tapes because i could do them by myself if its raining or snowing ect. my husband and i would sometimes go to the park and walk but i always felt like everyone was looking at me because of how big i was. i would get short of breath and feel like i was letting my family down because i would have to stop before the end of the trail, but i always tried to do at least 4-5 min more each day. anyway after the surgery i was determined to excercise right away so 1 week post op i started my walking tapes and light weights i dropped 160 pounds joined a gym hired a personal trainer to teach me how to run. my new favorite thing to do besides lifting weights and i can honestly tell you i dont have much loose skin at all. my doctor calls me his star patient. 99% of it is mental believe you can do it , know you can do it and you will. i love my body now, i have never been so toned in my life. i love it. please write me and let me know how you do im so happy for you. my prayers are with you. nina
I reccomend squats or anything that helps you stand from a sitting position without using your abs. and getting arms inshape to pull yourself up without using your abs. I was so greatful my legs were muscular and my arms were because let me tell you I just had surgery 4 days ago and I use my legs completly to stand from bed/chair/potty and I would be in sever pain if I had to use my abs. I am having a lot of trouble with my stomach muscles. I knew this would be a problem because the surgeon told me I had a fair amount of muscle in my abs and they would probably be really sore till they heal. My hubby ancors me to get out of bed and the car he holds my hands and steps back so I don't have to use my abs at all.. I am in sever pain haveing to lie down and sit up from lieing down because I have to use my stomach muscles. I don't know if it's like this for everyone but I know I have a lot of problems with that. I also have larger breasts that are lieing on my drainage site and that makes it hurt more... Anything you can do to tone up will help but for me it's my leg muscles...
