I am sad for OH and the turns it has made

There are a select few on this forum that feel it is OK to speak out of place.

As a mother of a 21 year old daughter I am disgusted in the way adult women choose in engage young women on this forum. No wonder our young woman today have no desire to be more polite....its cause they get beat down by their own gender.

And for a grown man to engage a young woman with anything other than kindness and concern is just not acceptable.

It is not OK to call someone an attention *****(or any other fowl name)...first off the word is just plain ugly and second imagine that was your daughter and someone spoke to her in that fashion.

We are all here to learn and grow and to have people jump all over you because you are not sure of something is down right mean and nasty and just shows who the real immature person is.

Those of you who are a year or more out should be here to educate new patients and give them the wisdom of your experience....and as 20 somethings do you have to sometimes repeat yourself. If you do not have the patience to repeat yourself then just do not respond. It is indeed counter productive.

So for anyone who feels that they do not like a post pass it by

Block
Report
(located at the bottom fo your post)

But what ever happens please do not leave the forum, it is not helpful for your progress.

You can put derogatory comments here if you like I will choose to utilize my options so its OK speak your mind and I will react with options given to me by OH.

that "young woman" you refer to was an ungrateful little brat who didn't appreciate help being offered to her!

And I mean REALLY  - how could she have been here as long as she had and not know how important protein is?!

It was clearly an attention seeking post - but it backfired on her and the attention she got wasn't what she hoped for....

she wasn't so new ....and she even had posted before that she KNEW the importance of protein...

and why would you block someone for disagreeing with you or anyone else?  What fun is that to not see differing opinions?  Careful, you might learn something!

 I'm cluelss as to the exchange you are referring to - but why do you suggest that "OH" has taken a turn - the posts of a few individuals are not the wonderful community of support I find here.   There are a few people who's posts I don't bother with - but to suggest OH is somehow responsible for an open forum seems shortsighted.    In all areas of life there are good and not so good people.    Susan

I agree that there are some on OH who are more disagreeable than others, however that is because we all have extremely different personalities.  OH has been this way since I've been here, and it'll be that way when I'm gone.  Why?  Cuz its just like real life.  You cannot legislate how people post, and how people take those posts.  I saw the post you are referring to, and while she may have received some posts that were not all sugar and light, the question she was asking was one that has been answered time and again, and it can be irritating to older posters to ask a question you really already know the answer to.  Besides, who on earth would have surgery and would not have received the education needed on protein's importance?  My surgeon makes you take a test prior to surgery so that you understand the importance of protein, vitamins, and all the other things that keep us alive.  She also had been here long enough to know that protein is the most important thing we put in our mouths because it is referred to and spoken of all day and all night here.

Irregardless of all that, to say that those that have been here a year or more out should be here to educate new people and give wisdom of their experience...LOOK...none of them are paid to be here.  Its their choice what they share and what they don't.  And since its a site of freedom of speech to an extent, and that they all have different personalities, there is no point to wagging the finger to those that are not all sunshine and rainbows.  Unfortunately, thats found nowhere in real life.

It continues to amaze me that people receive their only education on a life changing surgery here on a website with people who do not have doctorates, nurse licenses, or any other medical certification and yet dont bother to ask their doctors, their nurses, their NUTs for God's sake the information that they ask us laypeople.  Or...do some research like most of us have had to do into real studies on WLS to get our information. 

And I still don't understand the reference to adult women talking young women??? Everybody here is equal.  I talk to you like I talk to anyone else.  I respect everyone but I don't legislate anyone.  Not trying to blast you, but you have to understand that we have different personalties, different faiths, different genders, and all of these groups of people have different ways of answering questions.  Sometimes it just won't be what you want to hear.

Hope that makes sense.  This site is supportive, but it can be hard for attention seeking people to make it here w/o being criticized.  Sorry if this is harsh...not trying to be.
