Not everyone has surgery int he US some leave the country and there is indeed no after care so yes this is where a lot of people get their advise.

And if you think her surgeon didn't tell ok then just give her the information it may help her. Maybe she just didnt listen...... not up to me to say but she asked and to be called names is not what she was asking for.

Like I said in my post I listed some options. People have the choice to use them or not

And OH does remove post that people find offensive.

OH doesn't remove them - they move them to R&R....both her posts are still there
including the one where the "young woman" told us to "fock off"

If you hit report and request an offensive post be removed and they review it and it is indeed offensive they will remove it, or if it is your own post they will remove it on your request.

you can certainly request your own posts be removed - yes
but if you report a post - they move it to R&R - not remove it from OH

trust me - both of her posts are alive and well on R&R

granted - in some cir****tances (rarely) they will remove posts - but it isn't often...

Well, I see about twelve posts from you that are offensive right here. Looks like they need to be removed.

One of the good and bad things about message boards, chat rooms etc is that sometimes folks feel  more free to "bash" another person than they might do in person. I am pretty much a say what I think person however one of the wisest pieces of advise someone gave me is
Say what you mean, mean what you say and don't be mean when you say it.
It took me a long time to figure out that telling someone
"how can you be so frigging stupid" is not as helpful as saying "it concerns be when I see you..."
If a person is being a so called attention ***** why give them more attention but calling them that. Why not just ignore them and let it go. I really believe that the more you stir **** the more it stinks.
Do I agree with everything I see on these boards?? Not even close
Do I wonder how some folks can not know what seems obvious to  me?? You Bet
Do I think sometimes the message gets lost in the delivery?? No Doubt
I have been attacked on these boards just for sharing my opinion which was clearly stated to be my opinion. I have had others on the boards lie about me, accuse me of bizarre things that were not remotely true and I found the more I engaged the person the more I gave them a chance to come after me. I did engage for a while and allowed myself to get way over the line before I was able to collect myself.
I guess my point is that folks are always going to be saying things and annoy, astound, confound and **** off other people. Such is the way of the world.
I am really working hard to not react and give that poster even more of a venue.
Just my humble opinion
Whatever you do is it truthful, necessary and kind?

"Not everyone has surgery int he US some leave the country and there is indeed no after care so yes this is where a lot of people get their advise."

People do go outside the US, but they should have arranged with their PCP to get aftercare before they got on the table. It is absolutely imperative that a patient have local post-op care, especially in the first few months after surgery.

I have to say I would "advise" everyone here to seek medical "advice" elsewhere. (*grin*)

not to agree or disagree with anyone but I work in a hospital where WLS is preformed by a Dr. that started out as a HAND SURGEON.  He doesn't have any type of follow up care to speak of and forget having a staff nutritionist.  To make matters worse, his patients are routinely treated post imperatively by hospital staff that has little or no education about wls.  This is not just true in Alaska either.  It is alarming how often I run into people (other nurses and health care professionals especially) who have NO IDEA about the dietary and supplementation needs of a post wls patient.  I am not saying this is any excuse not to educate your self, it isn't but I am saying that there are some post ops and certainly some preops that have no idea what type of lifestyle change is required after wls surgery.

The first line in your post pretty much sums it up>
I read and occasionally post in this forum , but do
you really think I take all medical information and
recommendations from people who post here.
Oh NO !!!!!!!!!  I don't know what exactly happened
to start all of this but.............. this is the real world and
everyone is not going to say what we want to hear how
we want to hear it. Just take it for what it's worth and
keep moving forward.

The thing is, this SHOULD NOT BE where people get their medical support.  That is dangerous and quite life threatening to do.  The proper place for that, is your surgeon and then your nutritionist.  Sometimes your nutritionist then your surgeon.  Unfortunately, if people can't cut it here, they probably cant cut it in real life.
To go into a surgery that can kill you if you don't know the importance of protein is the definition of insanity.
++Without enough protein, your body will break down your internal organs(YOUR HEART) and you will die.  Period.  End of story.
I refuse to believe her surgeon didn't tell her. PERIOD.

My point is everybody has different personalities and not everybody is gonna play nice.  And fortunately, OH doesn't legislate that.  IF someone is offended, USE THE BLOCK BUTTON.  If someone doesn't want to see "vulgar" language, take the adult settings off.  Everybody has rights here...those you like, and those you don't.
You can believe whatever you want to, but my surgeon didn't tell me either. I learned on my own, did my own research, and understood the importanceof protein long before having wls.

But as for my "center of excellence" surgeon, I wasn't told a dang thing.
