How long after surgery can you still die because of WLS?
I was just wondering if one can still die because of WLS several years after you have had it? I think most people are petrified of having the surgery but just wondering if I can sigh a sigh of relief almost 2 years out. And if it is possible to still have complications because of WLS what are they???
well first of all we are all going to die of something at some point.
can you die from WLS way out, i guess so, but if you have been healthy
all along, you are probably at no more risk from death from surgery as
from walking across the street and getting hit by a car.
i say just relax and enjoy your life, its a terrible strain on your mind to
be thinking non positive thoughts.
be safe and well, jacki

We're all going to kick the bucket at some point, whether it be complications from WLS, short or long term - - - or natural causes - - - or getting hit by a train.
I would sigh now. Relax. Yes, "complications" happen. Intestines kink, blood goes wacky, and weird things happen. There's nothing you can do about it.
def be relieved. you are constantly iin check with your doctor at least 2 times a year by now. the band can have complications but not so severe that it would cause any concern. If I had it to do all over again I would still do it. the biggest concern with the wls is the healing process of your incesions. to make sure there is no infection. the dr should be checking your port and exray your band on a yearly basis.
I have read about people dying of bowel obstructions even years after abdominal surgery (be it WLS or a c-section or whatever.) It's important that if you ever have the symptoms or just feel that something is off, you get checked out ASAP. I have heard of people dying of malnutrition and other issues relating to food and vitamins, but that can be a compliance issue and it doesn't just pop up one day or anything.
But you should breathe that sigh of relief, because the above issues are rare and generally treatable.
