I am almost 6 months out and I am still only eating about 3-4 ounces. The bool of info teh dr gave me says that we could be eating up  to 6-7. Has anyone heard anything different. How much did you all eat at 6 months out? Does the amount ever go up the further you are out or is this permanent? Thanks!

I eat about 3 ounces. It depends on what it is. Most people go by volume, not weight. 1/4 cup, 1/2 cup.

Hi I had my surgery on 01/12/09 and I am eating 1/2 cup of food. I was told to only eat 2oz. of any kind of meat (which I have not had luck with so far) If you eat 2 oz. of meat you can add 2 oz. of a veggie or starch to equal 4oz. Now this is what my guidelines are so I am just sharing. Hope this helps you. I have no idea how much we should be consuming at 6 months, this is a good question. Best Wishes. Robin

At 6 months my Dr said 1/2 cup per meal then. @ 9months 3/4 cup per meal and @ the 1 year mark 1 cup per meal the rest of your life... Hope this helps.

I had my RNY in 11/2004 and I think it was about 1 year before I started to feel that things had leveled off and I was at a point where I could kinda figure out how much I was going to eat.  Most importantly I remember trying to eat as much as my pouch would hold and not one mouthful more.  Hopefully you are getting your protein in supplements and taking your vits/minerals so it should be fine with 3-4 or 6-7.  Have you checked with your doc?  I know that it was iffy for me until I was at least 1 year in...good luck!

I will be 6 months out in one week.  I met with my nut on 5/22 and she said I should be eating less than a cup at one sitting.  Now that doesn't translate into 8 ozs of protein---no.  Typically, I eat about 3-4 oz of protein, a couple bites of veggies or salad and maybe if I have room, a bite or two of potato or some other starch.  That's it.

My nut also advised to limit my meals to 20 minutes (used to be 30 mins) because I find if I sit and wait even 5-10 minutes, I can squeeze and extra bite or two, not what I should be doing.  She said if I eat every 4 hours, and fill my pouch with good quality protein, then I shouldn't want to snack (I've been struggling with the desire to snack lately)

Well, since I met with my nut, I've lost 7.8 lbs.  I cut out the bite or two of starch, sticking solely with protein and veggies so color me happy.  I believe the max an RNY should ever eat at one sitting is about 1 1/2 cups, but I believe that is at about 1-2 years.

I am 9 months out and according to my plan I just bumped up to 6ozs.  I won't lie, sometimes I eat more than that.  I  struggle with my pouch b/c I don't feel restriction like some people do. So, about 98% of the time I eat 6oz.  Then sometimes I eat longer and end up eating about 8 oz I would imagine.

I struggle with protein so I eat at LEAST 4 ozs of protein and then 2 oz of veggies or fruit.  I don't do starch unless it is a corn ( maybe 4 times in the last 9 months) or yam.  I don't eat bread, rice or pasta.

Hope this helps!

I am almost 7 months out and I have reached my goal (losing 110 lbs) and I eat about 1 cup of food per meal. Sometimes a little more. I really watch my calories and I get in at least 75 g of protein a day. I do have to watch what I eat because I could easily sabotage my weight loss because I have not gotten sick on anything. So I still am trying to get it in my head that this is not a diet but a lifestyle change. I think it will take a while for my head to catch up though.
