So i had a coupon for this TROP 50 they have been advertising so i thought i would give it a try.

Brought it home and poured a nice cold glass of it.

YUCK- tastes like TANG!

then i look closer at the label and it says.
ORANGE DRINK (not juice)
and then they go and make the container TALLER
than a regular half gallon BUT...

the ounces are less! 59 oz. compared to 64

I would expect a company like Tropicana NOT to be so devious in their marketing. the store where i bought it had it right next to the regular NOT FROM CONCENTRATE juice.

grrrr

I guess it shouldn't bother me because right now i'm not drinking any OJ - but my husband still likes juice and i'm sure many of you have families that still want OJ. so if you think you're doing a good thing by purchasing TROP 50 check the label yourself. you may be surprised.

Don't feel bad, I fell for it too.  My husband said the same thing...."It tastes like tang".  I won't buy it again.

Hmm, haven't drunk it by itself, but I use it with the Syntrax Fuzzy Navel and chobani yogurt to make a great protein drink.

I like it in the drink at least, maybe it helps just flavor the drink orangy for me.

Oh well,

On the other hand, Minute Maid has some pretty darn good Light LimeAde, Orange/TangerineAde and RaspberryAde.  Very low calorie and tasty, too.

I usually buy Tropicana because most juice from concentrate taste "off" to me.  I'm glad you posted this review so that I don't bother with this stuff.

It's called a juice drink because basically it's diluted OJ. I don't know the exact number but it's still got a good bit of juice in it. I love the way it tastes.... moreso than regular OJ actually. I don't drink it much but DH likes for me to buy it since I refuse to have drinks like soda, sweet tea, and other sugar laiden drinks in my house.

That is right- it is called a juice drink- but if you were to look closely at the labeling a person would see that.  The package is soo similar to regular juice i feel it is deceptive.
and since it is diluted with WATER- why not just take a full 64oz of real juice and mix with 64oz of water. and save some pennies?

(o there i go sounding like parents again! lol)

Of course, taste is a very  personal thing. what may work for one and enjoy may be horrible for another.  for me i guess the packaging being larger (taller) and having less product is what pushed me over the edge. Not what i would expect from a company that has been as highly regarded as TROP.

No one makes a 3lb can of coffee any more or a 1 lb can for that matter- but the packaging is also smaller- they don't make the package bigger as an optical illusion so you think we are getting same amount.

Nice some like it and have found it works for them mixed with other things.
But i'm not going to buy again.

I actually love the stuff! It's about as close to OJ as I think you can get without all the sugar.

I just dilute regular orange juice (100% juice) 1/2 and 1/2 with water, and since I can only drink about 3 ozs. anyway, I'm well within what I'm permitted with the natural sugars.  Juice goes a lot further in our house these days and I really don't notice much difference in taste since I am now ultra sensitive to sweet and tart tastes.

I agree with the original poster that is the word I would use is awful!!  I started to buy a large container at the store I am glad that had a small one at my job because it was less money wasted...I am not a big orange juice fan but this day I had  a taste for orange juice (sigh) wish I could have had the real thing..

IDK I have been drinking 4 oz of the stuff daily for the past couple of days. It taste like OJ to me lol. Also, my box says an orange juice with vitamins not an orange drink. Just a side note, the reason why you might not like it is because it is sweetned with stevia, if you've never tried it or you don't like that sweetner that could be the problem. It comes from a plant.
