The minimum for Gastric Bypass is a bmi of 35--there are probably a lot of folks at that and higher.

Good luck.

My bmi was 39 when I had surgery.  I went from 287 to 115 in a year.  My biggest problem has been constipation, but I take stool softener for that.  I am not sure what you would like to know, but I will answer any questions you have.

When I was pre-op I just wanted the scale to say 199.9 lol.  My surgeon wanted me to get to 160-165ish. I lost 76lbs three months out and when I finally did get to 165, I wanted to lose more.  I wanted to be a size 4 lol.  I got down to 135 and was good with that and my Dr told me that everyone gains a little back so I wanted to lose more so that when I do gain weight back, I will be 135ish.  But then I got to 115 and in a size 0 or 1 and I love being this size. I have been maintaining this weight for 6 months now, but I am just waiting for the 10% regain I keep hearing about.  If you are worried about losing too much, don't stress over that.  You may get to your ideal goal weight and not be happy with that.  Just take it one pound at a time.  When you do get to your goal weight, your Dr and Nut will help you out with a maintenance plan to stay in that range.

I had a "lower" BMI about 40 - 42... my heaviest was 307, current is 206 and goal is 135ish. I too suffer from constipation but no other real problems your more than welcome to read my blog and ask any questions.
