Hi guys-

I am new to this site. Just had my surgery on 6/1/09 and is on a liguid diet for 2 weeks. I have just been driking water daily and maybe an ounce or too of crystal light. Any suggestions for something a little more intresting? I am so lost and water is getting so boring.

At the very beginning, you really need to baby your new pouch.  Try putting some apple juice in the water.  It should probably be mostly water, but the apple juice will help give it a little different taste.  Be careful that you don't overdo it, because apple juice does have natural sugar.  Also, try adding some sugar-free Tang.  You shouldn't have regular orange juice at this stage, but the SF Tang should be okay and again, it will be more interesting than plain water.

Hi Caliguy!
No protein drinks yet? I had them in the hospital. Can you drink soup broth yet? I had some tomato soup and chicken noodle with the noodles strained out.

Sugar free popsicles are good too.  They count a liquids.
Crystal Light, any kind of broths but make sure they are no salt.  Sugar free Kool Aid and ice tea, of course no sugar but splenda is OK.
Good luck

I liked Isopure protein drinks (expensive but tangy, which I liked).  Crystal Light comes in a lot of flavors, so I mixed it up with orange and iced tea and raspberry tea, and lemonade - and soups were a welcome change of pace.  It is SO much better once you start purees - hang in there!! -Sarah

The SF popsicles are my salvation. I love them. We also keep a pitcher of Kool Aid made with Splenda in the frig. I've found that drinking filtered water is the best. I take a bottle of water with me whenever I go out and drink filtered water from the frig at home. Tap water never bothered me before, but I'm finding I drink more water if it is filtered. Jello counts as a liquid, so I keep some of the SF snack cups in the frig for a little variety.

You didn't mention if they still had you on clear liquid or full liquid.  I was off clear liquid within about 3 days so I'm going to assume you're on full-liquid.  Step it up a little! You definately need more than jus****er and an ounce of crystal light.  Try some broth, strained cream soup (not potato), yogurt (no fruit or chunks) and protein shakes.  At this point, you could even put the protein in milk because it sounds like you're not getting much in the way of nutrition :)   If you're not sure where to start, at least try the protein bullets from GNC or Vitamin Shoppe and if you don't like the taste, add some crystal light.

At 10 days I was actually on puree'd food where cottage cheese and greek yogurt became my best friend :).

I can't do Crystal Light because the aspartame gives me a super sonic headache.  I've found this Arizona DeCaf Iced Green Tea with Ginseng that I absolutely love.  It's sweetened with sucralose (Splenda) so no headaches!  Great stuff.

Do you have a SNOW CONE stand in your area?  The ones near my house have sugar free syrups, that is really good .  I also loved strained egg drop soup from my local Chinese buffet.
