OK...about 1 year ago I started getting this really bad face pigmentation. It looks like freckles only it runs all together to make huge dark spots all over my face. It is driving me nuts. I have tried face creams, face bleach and even had 2 lazer treatments to get rid of it. I got rid of it for about a month after the lazer treatments but it came back. I noticed today that I am getting it around my mouth now. I look like I have a mustache. Before long I may look like I have a beard. I think it is from some of the medication I am taking. I got it after starting a new medicine and going out in the sun. I need to get this stuff off my face. The other day I saw my PCP and she thinks it might be caused by my thyroids. Who knows.....HELP !!!!

Sounds like you need to see a skin doctor.  The longer you wait, the chances are you may have permanent damge to you face. I would have thought the PCP would have given you a referral or checked to see what meds may be causing the issue, or a thyroid test at least. DAVE

She wants me to come in and see her next week. I had my thyroids tested with the WL doctor and they were off a little. I may go back to my dermatologist for some more lazer treatments.

Ask the dermatologist. Don't treat the symptoms and neglect the cause.

I think you should find out the cause of this instead of masking the symptoms.  Also go online and see what the side effects of your meds are and not to be funny if its happening to you with the meds chances are you are not the only one.  Class action suit springs to mind here. Its tramatizing to have to deal with this I am sure. I have a thyroid condition also graves disease and have never had that happen to me so I doubt if that is the cause. Go online and do your research.

I'm wondering about hormones. I had "pregnancy mask" which sounded similar, and it was from pregnancy changing my hormones. I have also been advised to stay out of the sun on my current birth control, as it may cause problems.

Could it be the birth control combined with sunlight? Could your hormones be out of whack? At any rate, it's best to have a doctor figure it out. Good luck.

My mother and sister both had that problem and it was from their birth control.

They stopped taking them but the marks are still there.

See your doc and good luck!

I would check your meds first, some side effects of meds in combination with being in the sun can do that. You did mention that you were in the sun recently. You can go online and look up side effects of meds. Also, tell your dr you want to see a dermatologist or get a referal to see one. Don't let it become permanant. =)

I had something like that and my doctor called it a "pregnancy mask".  It was caused by having kids and birth control.. I guess hormones.  After I went off the pill it took several years for it to go away but it did.  I would check with your doctor though..
