I have yet to have WLS, but I did have gall bladder surgery last year and they told me I could not wear nail polish but i too got a pedicure before my surgery. They didnt say anything about the nail polish on my toe nails so i guess it was ok.
Your nails are the first indication of many problems. It's best to be safe then sorry. If you have polish on your nails they can't see that you are perhaps not getting enough oxygen. Your life is much more important then pretty nails on the day of surgery. You didn't mention if you have tips on your fingernails or not, or polish. Good luck.
I just had my DS one month ago and did get my toes and fingers done. The only thing was I had to take off the polish on my two index fingers, everything else stayed on and even the toes. I am sure all hospitals are different though.

I was allowed to have painted nails and even artificial finger nails, but they requested I have a very pale or clear polish. That was the same for my TT and hysterectomy.
I went for a manicure, pedicure, facial and massage the day before WLS surgery --wonderful way to get relaxed!

I rarely use nailpolish on my fingers or get tips. My sister is a nurse and I knew they needed to see my fingernails, but wasn't sure about my toes!
