Coffee After Surgery...replacements?

I drink coffee every morning - I just stick to 1 or 1 1/2 cups and then watch my caffiene intake after that.  Occasionally I'll have unsweeted iced tea when out (what else can you drink besides water?) and go over a bit for that day.  But, I haven't had any issues.

I drank decaf until about 1 month out.

I did not want coffee right after surgery. About 8wks out I back with my one cup with 1/2 and 1/2. As I have always said there are some things I am just not willing to give up and if one tablespoon of half and half stands between me and thinness, then what will be will be.
Anyway, my nut said the big thing is dehydration by caffine and to replace equal amounts of fluid as coffee intake.

I like half caf either Folgers or Maxwell House it was  and is the middle of the road . It tastes like regular coffee but less acid.

My doc's guidelines say no caffeine for 6 months, and I had a small ulcer a few years ago, so I'm totally complying, but counting the days until 6 months have passed.  I *do* like waking up each morning without a caffeine hangover, but I do miss the kick.

Thanks for all the feeback.  I might not have made my post clear, i was under the impression that it was not so much the caffeine i had to limit/eliminate, but the coffee itself, because of the acid, and the fear of it being to hard on my pouch...

They brought me my full caffeine coffee the morning after surgery.  Since I wasn't a heavy drinker, they said I could have it.  I used to drink just one cup, now probably have two cups a day.  I also drink tea (with caffeine) in the afternoons.

I had RNY a year ago.  I started back on coffee a few months after surgery, with no ill effects.  I drink 2 large cups every morning and it has not affected my weight loss.  Lots of us RNYers go back to coffee.
