Occasional Burning in pit of your "stomach"

Anyone ever experience a burning feeling in the pit of your "stomach", well, your "old" stomach?  Sometimes If I miss my prilosec for over 2 days I will get a burning in the middle of my stomach that takes several minutes to go away. I've had it about 3 times now and wondering if it's something I should mention to my doctor at my next visit next month?  Anyone ever experience this? I know I'm being kept on the Prilosec to ward off any possible ulcers in the old stomach, but wondered if this is what an ulcer feels like?  Thanks

Yes, see your doctor and don't wait on this. You may have a ulcer and early treatment makes a big difference after weight loss surgery.

I have this same problem but when I told the nurse practitioner she told me to see if it is something I am eating.  I told her that I wake up with it after 4 hours of sleeping.  She gave me no answers.
What does an ulcer feel like.  Why would the NP not know that this was a possibilty?

I get that if I eat something too acidic - like strawberries so I take Pepcid AC chewable before I eat them and it helps.  My surgeon said I might have an ulcer in the old stomach but you can't check for it without major surgery.  During exploratory surgery he did on me, he did tack my stomach up and mark the area up so if the pain gets worse, they can put a tube in and do a scope into the old stomach to check to see but so far I don't need it.  The pain isn't bad enough to go through all that.  I would have to have a G-tube in for over a  month to do it.  I am on Protonix 40 mg and the Pepcid as needed and that keeps it under control.

Hmmm, interesting, thank you for the information.  Mine isn't bad, actually only have had it a few times, usually between meals or at least several hours after eating and it goes as fast as it came on.  I think I'm going to have to think seriously about quitting smoking (yes, I know, I quit before surgery, and started again) because I know they worry about ulcers in the old stomach from caffiene and smoking, two things I do, coffee and smokes.....Thanks

Your pain could definetly be from the coffee or from the smoking.  Please give them up.
