oh i agree-- i don't HATE exercising-- i don't enjoy messing with certain activities like the stair climber or doing pushups and tbh i don't do these.  i enjoy zumba and aerobic dancing and that sort of thing and i like the treadmill and bike (well, basically i like them because i watch tv or listen to my mp3 player).  i know doing stuff you don't like to do makes the whole process even worse!!!

i don't run either... i mean i can run around a little bit if i'm playing but if you shoot at me i will be dead because i can't run.

I was never much of an exerciser until I lost all of this weight- about 100 pounds so far with 12 left before goal.  Oddly enough I can't seem to get enough of it now- try Zumba- it is addicting.  You sweat and feel the endorphins for hours.  I think exercise is the key to keeping the weight off and it is good for the heart muscle.

Yeah ummm No I don't sweat, if I am sweating I am either deathly sick or its freaking 100 degrees outside.  No thanks!

Enjoy it for me!

If you look at it logically...

It takes a deficit of 3500 cals to lose one pound

3500 cals a week is 500 cals a day

to burn 500 cals a day you would (if you weighed 190lbs) have to do one of the following every single day:

1 hr aerobics
1 hr basketball
1 hr cycling
1 hr boxing punchbag
1 hr strenuous dancing
1 hr fencing
1 hr shovelling snow by hand
1 hr stairs/treadmill
etc. etc

All for ONE POUND!

I'm not lazy. In fact I am very active. But regular exercise and me just don't go together. Didn't seem to slow my weight loss any!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I suspect exercise is a lot more important to people who are genetically prone to insulin resistance.

I was on meds for my diabetes prior to wls and only walked then also and that kept my blood sugar under control.   Now I am off the meds and never had a problem, my blood sugars are normal going on 5 years next April.  I bought time is how I look at it, not to be a needle pusher like my mother.

I probably won't do much more than walk, but I do use the treadmill or a leslie Sansone DVD when I don't want to walk outside. I really like Leslie Sansone...upbeat but not silly. and her classic walk is a good work out for me now,

I love Leslie Sansone's Walking Away the Pounds dvds! And I have been an I-hate-exercise/I-hate-sweating person my whole life. (Except when I was a kid/teen playing competitive softball, etc.)

Before I know it, I am done with a mile and I feel great. I am challenging myself to do the 2 mile today. (The one I have been doing the most is The Evening Mile with Legs).

I agree that she is not too silly, but just enough to get you through the routine. She is also very informative. I have learned quite a bit that I didn't previously know.

I bought mine from eBay, not wanting to pay full price if I didn't like them. If anyone else tries them, I hope you get as much benefit and fun from them as I do. (I am 9 weeks post-op today and since September 24th, have lost 30" from neck to ankles. I credit these videos for boosting my results!)

Heidi,

Thanks for the post.  It was great to hear that.  I hear so many people talk about being addicted to the gym and exercising and it makes me feel bad.  I have 4 kids and work full time, so finding time to go the gym is hard.  I do walk on my lunch break for 45 minutes - an hour about 3 times a week.  More if my schedule allows. But thats pretty much the extent of exercise for me.  I have lost 107 pounds so far.  I also count calories and watch what I eat.  So I think I am doing pretty good.  It was conforting to read your post and inspiring!  thanks so much!!

How awesome are you? Wow! I have 4 children at home, too, and that is why I do the Leslie Sansone videos in my living- or bedroom.

With your level of success, I say you are doing an incredible job! You inspire me! Congratulations!
