GASTRIC BYPASS SURGERY AND DRUG TEST ?
From an Human Resources point of view and from personal experience, if you test positive due to a prescription, the lab will call YOU first and ask you if your taking anything.
You tell them what your taking and if it is a Rx, they will ask your pharmacy that filled it or the Dr. that gave it to you....I don't know how old they consider outdated, but my guess is as long as it is within the expiration date on the bottle, then it is considered a valid Rx.
Once you provide the information to the lab, they will provide a NEGATIVE result to the employer. The employer usually knows nothing of the positive result.
That scenario happened to me once and the 2nd time I tested positive, the lab called the HR office and they contacted me to get the Dr./Rx info. It is really not a big deal as long as it is your Rx. The 2nd time, my Rx was a year old and I was still taking them (pain pills).
As far as OTC supplements, they should not have enough micrograms of anything to create a positive test and if they do, just provide the info on the product.
As long as your not doing anything illegal, don't sweat it. If you still use your pain pills, that is ok just as long as it is YOUR Rx.
Hope this helps.
I guess im just worried about my urine being extra clear on days or that flourescent yellow. Both are do to the drinking of lots of water and supplements which i take as part of my daily work out routine.
The supplements like i stated earlier all come from GNC & Balley fitness.
My biggest fear is my urine getting rejected for being to clear or to bright. I've read that some labs will reject the urine thinking some form of blocker or mask is being used.
I'll keep you posted and again thank you for your input its much appreciated
I have a scheduled drug test coming up soon.. I have question about taking the test I suffer from survive nausea from migraines monthly. Sometimes I smoke a little pot to take the pain for my head and stomach away. I hope this little amount doesn't stop what I worked so hard for? I no that I can take a vitamin B and that will help, it has been over a month now so I should be good..
I took the test and got my results back NEGATIVE DILUTE
Negative test means that there are no trace of drugs in your system however your urine is diluted.
My prospective employer had me provide documentation of my surgery and a asked me to provide a letter from my nutritionist or health care professional.
My nutritionist gladly wrote me a letter on hospital letter head stating all the facts of being a bypass patient our body absorbs half nutrients. Also it is normal for our urine to be clear or light in color. I work out 5 days a week 3hrs a day and consume nearly 2 galons of water daily. I do intense cardio training and weight training.
My employer approved the letter and just asked me to retake the drug test this morning knowing well enough my results will again be a negative dilute. All goes well ill be starting my new job next week.
Just wanted to give you guys a heads up as you may want to get a letter from your doctor or nutritionist in the event you have to take a drug test and need an explanation for your test results
