8. Have you died as a complication of the band? Yes..I'm dead right now

9. If you could do it over, would you get the band versus another WLS option like RNY, VGS, DS...
Yes, Today, Knowing what I know now and living with the band for 4 years...I feel like I was not honest with myself. Yes, I was going to the gym faithfully, but as many times before I started going less frequently...life happened etc (got married and baby etc) Now I know how very important it is to be honest with myself and what I need to be successful and not need another surgery again and not risk failure.
For me the DS is the best option..I will be able to enjoy regular meals in the future, wont feel deprived, the DS will forgive me when I have moments of weakness and can't always be on my "A" game. Even with best intentions and determination..we make bad choices and can't always fight off those deep feelings we have about food and the comfort it gives us.
I should have been unafraid to get the surgery with the best results long term..after all I have yo-yo dieted all before. I didn't need surgery to do it again.
I now know the importance to think long and hard, and consider all of the options, and how the surgery choice will work for you 10 years from now..not just 1-2 years
10. Do you report fewer co-morbidity's as a result of your surgical

2. Have you experienced any of the following: Vomiting, PB, Stuck Food, "Bringing food back", Regurgitation. My docotor filled my band too tight and after that (for about a year) I could only eat mushies and even then I'd PB and EVERYTHING got stuck no matter how much fluid was taken out of my band.
3. Have you experienced any of the following: Dehydration requiring IV fluids, Vomiting requiring hospital intervention NO
4. Have you experienced any band complications requiring a secondary surgery to repair the port, tubing or band. I got my band taken out on Nov 2, 2009 and so far no complications with the removal and revision to RNY. However the incision where they took my port out was extremely painful.
5. Have you experienced any other complications related to the band requiring a second surgery IE. Gall bladder Nothing other than the revision to RNY.
6. Have you had an elective surgery to replace your port to a lower profile version or new band version. Again, revision to RNY because I couldn't stop throwing up.
7. How satisfied are you: 1 being VERY, 2 being Somewhat, 3 being Not really, 4 being NOT satisfied at all.. BOO! I am not a band fan so I would have to say a 4 for the band.
8. Have you died as a complication of the band? Apparently not, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
9. If you could do it over, would you get the band versus another WLS option like RNY, VGS, DS... I would NEVER have gotten the band had I known then what I know now. Had my insurance covered the DS without a million appeal letters I would've had the DS or Sleeve. Since my insurance only covered band or RNY through December 2009 then no wls coverage at all in 2010. So, I chose RNY. So far so good.
10. Do you report fewer co-morbidity's as a result of your surgical weight loss? Absolutely, I no longer have to take high blood pressure or cholesterol medications.
