I've heared about mixing sugar with Splenda to make your own Splenda baking blend I guess. What I wonder has anyone done this? The Splenda sugar blend is a bit expensive and so is the brown sugar blend and this one I use often in beans, baking, and breakfast foods. So I'm interested in any advice about making my own. Any tips any ideas and of course your thoughts about how they are homemade. Thanks so much christine (internetnut)

for beans and pudding or most breakfast food, or even things like brownies I would just use Splenda itself; add a little bit of molasses if you want the brown sugar color and flavor.  The baking blend is half Splenda and half sugar, which you really only need in baked goods where the sugar contributes other things (texture, changing the moisture balance) besides just sweetening.  I have been playing around with Splenda in baked goods; it often works fine in quick breads and some kinds of cookies (just made gingerbread men) to just use regular Splenda; if the baking blend is more expensive, I'd mix my own and test how much sugar is needed to make the recipe successful. --Sarah

Thank you! I'm not crazy over molasses in my beans they are just ok. I do use Splenda itself in most my items such as fruit based dishes. Yum Gingerbread one of my favorites did you find a recipe which doesn't use molasses? I've found a few but wonder how they will be. Thanks again christine (internetnut)
