when can you eat raw veggies
I'm only 9 weeks post-op, and I've eaten with no problems: tomatoes (I spit out the skins), celery (I de-string it first), baby carrots, peeled, sliced cucumber, and a small bit of lettuce in a salad or in a bite of sandwich. I don't really care for any other raw vegetables (have NEVER liked radiches, raw broccoli or cauliflower, peppers, or raw beans/peas) so that's all I am likely to try.
Granted, my portion sizes are VERY small right now, so maybe that's why I'm having success.
Have you tried raw veggies before now?

I was given the ok by my surgeon at month three. On the way home I stopped and got a grilled chicken ranch salad from jack in the box. They even have low fat ranch dressing.
It was sooo goood.
I had a blockage early out on a tiny chunk of meat from a can of cream of chicken soup that managed to get by the strainer. But now I have no trouble. I eat raw tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, lettuce (tho not much lettuce, not enough flavor to waste pouch space on..lol.). I have not tried raw carrots yet tho. Will wait a while before trying those...lol.
I have had raw bell peppers and jalapeno's. No troubles there either.
Ask your surgeon when its ok for you and then give it a try.
Good luck.

Believe it or not I am about 4 weeks out and given the ok to start introducing my tummy to veggies, fruits and more meats. I can do lettuce in small doses. Frankly Im too scared to try too much of anything uncooked even though I was told I could. I tried a little lettuce with chicken salad the other day - it was heavenly and went down just fine - no issues. I was told I could have grapes and other fruits as long as there was no skin and no orange membranes (stringy stuff). I will try a little here and there just to see how I handle it.
I was given the okay when I went back for preop visit on December 21. Of course, my doctor seems to be much more "liberal" with food options than most I have seen on here. I got a few greens, put some chicken and cheese on it and some Caesar dressing and called it a salad. It was really good. I've eaten it a couple of times without any problems whatsoever.
