You have to work on it every single day for the rest of your life.  Working on eating right and exercising does not end when you lose the weight.  99% of thin people or people who keep in shape must make mostly good food choices and regularly exercise.  Anyone can tell you anything but in the end, you have to do the work.

Best to you, YOU!! can keep the weight off for the rest of your life.

It took me two years to lose 100% of my excess weight, and I'm still there a little over a year later. So far, so good :-).

The statistics show that you're likely to keep off at least 65% of your excess weight with the RNY. That's a heck of a lot better than any non surgical diet for a morbidly obese person, which has a less than 5% chance of doing the same thing.

My sister had gastric bypass surgery over 20 years ago and she has maintained her weight loss.  In fact, she struggles with keeping her weight high enough!  Her success has been very inspirational to me.

Almost three years out started at 243 current 120lbs.  No problem, but have to make sure I eat enough or I lose more.  Health is 100% better.  And I'm 5'7" so I have lost more than 100% of my excess weight.

I have maintained my weight loss but let me tell you at nearly 5 years out it is hard.  I do whatever it takes to maintain, which means I have to pretty much live on a restricted diet even when I don't want too.  It can be done but I would definately take advantage of the honeymoon with your surgery because once the honeymoon is over the real work begins.

Good Luck
